I don't think the Mass Driver was ever supposed to be as strong as it was. The major problem with explosives before have now been fixed... If you don't know what they are, I will list it, and hopefully you will see why the explosives were a problem and have now been equalized:
1) Before, explosive blast radius ignored the reduction of damage to shields and did the same damage to shields as to armor. This had been proven several times over via video and posted on the forums
2) Before, explosive blast radius gave no reduction to damage based on range, meaning that someone standing directly above the explosion at distance 0 got the same amount of damage as the person on the edge of the blast at 7.2m (for instance). This has been fixed as, it not only makes sense, but mimics real world impacts of explosions. Now mass driver users have to be more accurate...
This post isn't meant to be mean, but to point out where Mass Drivers were O/P... It isn't the weapons fault, you just got used to faulty code or code that wasn't fully finished. |

It needs a 10% DMG buff.
A boundless with a complex DMG mod isn't nearly as OP as it was in 1.4, but it does inspire fear and people don't just walk through the boom.
10%. That would be perfect.
Also, it needs to have more ammo, BC since logi cannot play as assaults in 1.8, and only logistics suits can really use ot BC you basically have to carry 2 nanohives. Assaults run it dry in quickly unless theyre carrying ishukone hives.

I still cringe at the thought of Mass Driver in 1.4 and the spam use of MD in PC... That was crazy bad.

I started an alt just to try the MD out. It was fun but ineffective, it did the job a couple of times better than anything else could maybe, but most of the time it was nothing but a noisemaker. Why is there no choice of ammo? An AV option at least? |

The Mass Driver was never OP.
Never Ever.
It was always one of the lowest DPS weapons in the game.
The only difference is that now aim assist has greatly narrowed the gun-game gap between mediocre players and great players, and random scrubs are now able to apply rifle damage more reliably.
The Mass Driver has its niche applications, but it is no longer a competitive primary weapon, and it never was. |

Not to pisss on your depression parade but you exaggerate it's death. I continue it's use and as previously explained, have merely had to resort to finding perches. It's useable range was pushed back a bit but really it feels the same and when paired with certain situations can be extra deadly when the otherrifles can't poke out for a shot.
In fact I just got op 5 today and proficiency one. Got 2 Breach MD kills too.

In fact I just got op 5 today and proficiency one. Got 2 Breach MD kills too. There's no doubts you can get kills with the MD, that's not really an issue. The problem is that it doesn't do what it was originally intended to do: area denial. It's a terror weapon that nobody is afraid of. It doesn't suppress, doesn't disorient, and doesn't have the teeth it once had. Killing someone is nice, but being able to scatter entire squads like before would be nicer.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

Don't forget they fixed the bug where explosive damage counted twice (Reason why MLT Locus Grenades could OHK a Proto G-Assault).

There is supposedly readjustments to rifles in the works. Maybe once rifles aren't instant death and TTK isn't 0.2 seconds the MD will become more useful. At least I hope so. Rifles are so boring.
