I had a thought of a gamemode that would be probably the pinnacle of PvP in DUST514. It is a bit like the old Corporation contract battles that we all had in Chromosome. I was thinking of a challenge mode(I know someone must have asked for this already). Let's see how many people endorse this mode.
I remember playing in pubs and PC and corp battles, thinking "wouldn't it be nice to 'duel' someone?". What if we could select someone in any chat channel or from contact list, and request a duel from them. What if we could select a squad and duel 6v6 just by selecting them from a list of squads? What if we could ante up items besides money? What if we could set the rules of these encounters sidearms only, forge guns only, tanks only, dropships only, 0 splash dmg etc?
So here we go..
- Duel anyone 1v1 from chat channel or contact list.
- Duel your squad against any other squad from list
- Play for money or play for items
- Set your own rule parameters regarding game type, weapons, vehicles, friendly fire, orbitals.

Private Matches have been something I've been wanting for a long time. Not only for duels, squad grudge matches, or corp battles that don't involve territory, but also for training up the newberries, and practicing and training better squad work.
I feel it should be optional whether or not to have your ranks updated, but it should definitely cost you suits. |

Ever have a match where 1 guy gets your goat? Like this guy reeeeaally needs to be put in his place. Maybe it was a good match and you wanna set things straight with this guy/girl once and for all without interruptions. Yeah, dueling.

Much of this has actually been done in other games and successfully implemented. For example, in Killzone 2, they implemented a tournament online mode where clans could create their own tournaments. They would set their own rules of engagement and select a map type, and finally the time to engage. People could browse a list of upcoming tournaments and look up stats on clans before they engage them. The tournaments were sometimes multiple tiers so it wasn't just 2 squads, it was a multitude, sometimes 4 tier tournies which meant 16 squads competed. If 16 squads competed and anted money then the pot at the end for the champion was usually pretty big.

And add a wager system where you could bet isk on the match

If people were able to set their own rules, imagine the reduction in QQ on the forums. People who hate AA could just turn it off in their dueling rules, people that hate tank spam could set the "No tanks rule", people that think a certain gun is OP can restrict it in their own matches.
To paraphrase, player set matches would be the end of QQ.... In theory, I can't promise anything.
