struggling for isk. which got me thinking, many players love virtual economies. a new player could play the economy and that could have kept him around. the economy is the backbone in EVE. We don't need economy that complex but just a basic economy to make isk overnight and come back and see something has sold.
That stuff is appealing to many players. Without a economy it is just a grind for isk which no one likes,
"well just man up and grind some isk" - i know this and can just transfer the isk from my main- which is a buzzkill of loading screens- but from a new player perspective, we need economy 'soon to retain players.

I cannot wait until there is the ability to sell items in Dust.
It seems like the "salvage" is actually scripted to specifically give you items that your skills don't support. |

If anyone could explain why that button mashing piece of **** DCUO has a P2P market and what would equate to a corporate hangar with proximity chat, and we don't I love to hear it.

True. I have never consciously equipped one piece of salvage. I think I burned through some shotguns once and wondered where they came from, but even that might have just been forgetfulness.
I got my hand around the pistol grip, and the safety's off.

So true. Why the salvage gods decided that what I really want are breach shotguns and tactical scrambler pistols I will never understand. The only salvage I've ever gotten than I use are ADV forge guns, I did get about 50 of those over the last year that I am using a lot now that my swarms are crap.

The virtual economy will come. The problem is how to properly setup the Dust secondary market in a way that can interact with the Eve secondary market. Keep in mind that Eve's economy is delicate and any error in the programming in Dust can translate to exploitation and bad news for Eve.
Of course, CCP has their own in-house economist whose job is to make sure the secondary market is as balanced as possible when it comes to this kind of stuff. And CCP does have plenty of experience dealing with economic shenanigans and market exploitations so I don't see CCP having any problem implementing the market into Dust. Sure, CCP does have a history of screwups with Dust's FPS mechanics, but the market is something CCP takes very seriously and wants to get it right the first time.
But the meantime I don't think it should be any problem to implement at least a basic trade window for private transactions. Eve Online has a basic trade window as well and Eve players often use it for all sorts of trades including scams. Play your cards right and you will see massive profit. Pull out the wrong cards and you lose to the house.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

Call me a tinfoil hat wearer, but I think this is done purposefully in public contracts so that players have an incentive to trade. You have something I want but I also have something you want. Let's trade.
This can also encourage players to "negotiate" bargain prices but that's on a whole different level of meta gaming.

Has anyone checked out the infantry section, Eve-side?
It would appear that the Dust Marketplace is functioning like the Eve Marketplace (with sell-orders being generated non-player wise). Its actually quite interesting to watch those graphs change over time (with game population and form's). I don't know how functional it really is mind you, but it looks like they are getting closer to having Eve/Dust economy to the point where they can flip a switch in the code and be opened for business. |

I needed to get out of a gallente logi so I used my optional respec to get my scout suit back.
I have something like 200 suits I cannot use and don't want. easy 300 plates at least a 100 armor reps 100's of uplinks, needles, rep tools, and hives I have something like 76 ADV sniper rifles I will never use.(all salvage) 23 thales snipers a couple of maddys mass drivers forge guns HMGs various aurum salvage scrambler rifles laser rifles
first off, most alts will never be profitable, they aren't played often enough. but I found and continue to find that that an amazing amount of isk is locked up in these icebergs of out dated gear or unusable gear.
I was never a rich merc I had 5-10 mill at most. it was a comfortable existence but I consistently found myself running full bpo games worried about my profit margin. then CCP gave us a full respec and refund of all non officer/event gear. suddenly I had more isk than I could spend, I went from a poor merc of 6 or so million to a wealthy noble of 77 million isk. it took me a while but I figured out where this massive pile of wealth came from, all those basic plates and low qualtiy mods that I simply grew out of, they were my profit stored away in time capsules of uses garbage mods I never really gained or lost isk because all my profits were spent on replacing old and outdated gear all the unused gear then became my profit.
in the last 2 or builds I have lost 13 million isk and cannot earn it back (in liquid assets) for the last build and a half I have been stable at 65 million isk some weeks I fall and some weeks I go higher but it averages back to 65 million. my wallet is fairly stable never gaining or losing any real quantity of isk however if I had to put a figure on my profits they're probably in excess of 50 million. they are locked away in the out dated gear and salvage I've gotten, not in the isk payouts from matches.
I am Smaug sitting atop my hoard of loot, desiring it only for it's own sake.

Lol, with the 1.0 respec my alt (was my main for a month maybe) picked up nearly 20 mil from a crapton of ADV/PRO dropships I inexplicably kept getting as salvage! Now all I get is breach shotguns and packed AV grenades.
(Although, FW is picking up, got a Sica as salvage this week. That was pretty cool considering I was running BPOs that match!)
