Hey Guys, long time fps shooter here. like wolfenstein era and forward. love this game and all that it stands for. but there has been a major faux pas in respects to how the keyboard configuration layout has been setup thus far. The tab key should never bring up the player list. The reason...it stalls the game, your forced into a menu, and god damnit its so close to the caps lock key which acts as your radial, which i enjoy controlling via keyboard rather than mouse. but when the caps lock key is so close to the tab key, it creates a major frustration point, hell, I have two keyboards now without tab keys on them just so my finger wouldnt slip. The point of all of this is that tab should not be designated what it is. the tab key should be the radial squad menu. and then the leaderboards could be L or something, anything, on the right side of the keyboard.
because heres what happens. heat of battle, running up a hill holding shift, gotta switch out in a hurry, finger slips anywhere near the tab key and bam. your fodder. not only that, but your reaction is to press esc. which brings you to the menu rather than back to the game. so then you have to press esc again to return to action, and by then, you are long dead my friend.
please fix this . please ?
The tab key made sense to other fps' as a leaderboard, but i dont think its place is on that key for this game. Im just saying. |

The tab key brings up the leaderboard in most games.

wolfenstein and such and you dont remember ALL oldskool shooters bring up the scoreboard when tab is pressed?
the issue aint the tab, the issue might be that the menu is too overloaded with info and it takes plenty of time for you to get killed, dude, the issue is your finger xD
dont get me wrong, i want my reptool on 2, my nanite injector on 1, weapon on 3, uplink on 4 and granade on 5 to change to granade, to cook you push, to shot you release, this way we keyboard users will be able to cook nades properly.
as you can see i use lots of stuff, so i press Caps Lock a lot, and NEVER, I've NEVER, pressed tab key by accident.

I was merely mentioning wolfenstein to estalish my age and length of time using fps's. Im 33. yes, tab was not used for leaderboards as leaderboards didn't exist in wolfenstein. but you're telling me you've NEVER, not once, accidentally slipped on the caps lock and pressed tab which cost you a life ? If so, I tip my hat to you. I however, have slipped many times in the heat of battle which cost me suits. something that literally impares your movement, should not be so close to the WASD. |

Im not asking for a respec of the keys. that is obsurd. I know there have to be SOME things you still need to do to be fair and balanced with those on controllers, my point is that there shouldnt be anything imparing to movement, so close to your movement keys. otherwise, hey, Ill just keep playing on keyboards with no tab key, no big. Im not the first mouse and keyboard guy to gripe about this in our local talks about this game however, and i was told to speak up. |

This is very true. however, in most games, pressing tab shows a snapshot, which quickly and promptly goes away when you release tab. you dont exacfly become impared from movement. I could have many gripes about how other things are laid out, but Im not going to, im only saying that the tab key is basically a deathwish key. Ive played this game since beta, and Ive likely lost 30 suits simply due to the fact that sometimes when you are forced to quick react, the tab key being so close to your radial menu, is imparing. sure, if you used only mouse3 for your raidal, you would not experience this. |

Possible work around. Get a N52TE (I use one for all my pc games). It's fully programable and stores the currently loaded profile in the game pads memory. Should be able to set it up on yer puter then attach to PS3.
Will try to test sometime this weekend. |

I was correct. Once programmed the PS will work fine with it. Even handled macros.
