Time to get ready to fuel up the campaign machine because this kitty is gonna run!
*now looking for campaign sponsors*
About me
I'm an American from the state of Virginia. I'm 22 years old and currently seeking my degree in homeland security. I play multiple instruments in my free time for leisure and for my college's athletic band. I enjoy reading a good book, and I'm also quite the news hound.
I started playing EVE in 2010, and of course am an Amarr Loyalist. I was in the closed beta of DUST but went by a different name - Adrienne DeWinter. I remember scores of things such as the terrifying dumbfire swarms (which I quickly tried to obtain), Skirmish 1.0, and the good ol camera sight.
I have 26 million lifetime SP due to me taking a bit of a hiatus during the closed beta and not really getting into DUST with fervor until the open beta. I also feel as if I'm in the DUST middle class - by no means am I poor, but I can assure you I also don't have the hundreds of millions of ISK like some wealthy players.
My stances on DUST
At this point RACIAL PARITY SHOULD COME BEFORE ALL ELSE.
Before we see new maps, sockets, moods, vehicles, anything, a full release of all racial suits should be CCP's priority. This will help with player retention because once all suits are released, players can play the role and suit that they actually want to. For example, I'd like to be a scout, but the Amarr Scout does not exist and I refuse to use the Gallente dogs' scout dropsuit. After too long of a time of not having suits that people want, they will get discouraged and leave, this is why it is IMPERATIVE that CCP gets all suits out ASAP.
CCP's second goal should be character customization. I know some of you are probably like "what?! Not balance? Not content?" Character customization will also help with player retention. Players are more bound to something that they have designed or customized, they feel a greater sense of ownership over it. Just think, wouldn't you rather log in and see your dropsuit that you've colored the way YOU want with the emblem YOU want on it, or perhaps matching Corp suits?
After customization, I feel new game modes, maps, moods, and terraforming should be CCP'S third goal. Remember, this is where we are playing overall. If CCP can create deep rich environments for us to play, you start getting a "wow" factor that, you guessed it, retains more players. IT'S ALL ABOUT PLAYER RETENTION. PVE should also be implemented at this stage. No one wants to play multi-player matches every single time they log in. Allow for players to mine or have player against drone PVE to also make ISK.
Lastly the focus should swing around to racial parity in vehicles and the addition of content such as drones, jets, MTACS etc. Basically these become "goodies" that can be implemented that keep players interested and wanting more

I like much of what you say above Aisha, however I really cannot see suit customization as a high priority at present. There is much more that needs to be done first.
Racial parity, as you mention, is indeed a high priority imo.
Strengthening the EVE Dust link is another. The character customization you mention may indeed be a means of retaining new players for a while, but Dust needs to retain the veterans also and a shiny suit wont do that. However a meaningful and more symbiotic relationship with EVE may well, since this is offering something no other game on the market is.
Working on the mechanics would be up there, I would love to be able to climb up ledges or go prone and the ability to deploy a team in FW would be nice, though these are perhaps not as important as fixing the existing issues with game-play. I am heartened by the recent moves on combating equipment spam induced lag.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the above.

As we move forward in DUST's production, I'd like to see the EVE/DUST link grow stronger. I feel that once EVE players are actually interested in DUST we will see an influx of players due to positive word of mouth. I went about thinking how the EVE/DUST link could be strengthened in a way that really adds immersion, a sci-fi feel, and a way for both EVE and DUST players to benefit from the link.
It begins with PC
At some point in the future, an update should bring about PC districts generating resources. Those resources are....
Micro Organisms Carbon Compounds Planktic Colonies Non-CS Crystals Ionic Solutions Autotrophs Reactive Gas Noble Gas Suspended Plasma Noble Metals Complex Organisms Base Metals Felsic Magma Heavy Metals Aqueous Liquids
Some of you may notice that these are the resources from EVE's Planetary Interaction System. While some capsuleers may still prefer doing PI themselves, I'm sure plenty would be happy to have we DUST mercs gather resources for them. Planets will generate resources that line up with the type of planet it is. For example, you're not going to see Aqueous Liquids on a Lava World. Different PC districts will have different resources under them or near them. Corps will now have the option to scan planets in M.H. for resources just like in PI. This will bring about tactics, planning, and some organized thought to PC. No longer will corps attack corps that they don't like for that sole reason (of course they still could though). For example you can attack AE or Nyain San because you do not like them, but perhaps a scan of the planet shows that the resources that will best benefit your corp's wallet is under Molon Labe's or Pradox One's districts....who do you attack - the one you don't like, or the one that boosts your income?
Capsuleers who are interested in the resources at PC planets in M.H. will be able to scan the planets for resources via PI with one change - it will show what resources are where, but it will show what DUST corp is sitting on top of them. The capsuleer could then get in contact with corp leadership and show interest in the resources that they are "squatting" on. Contracts could be drawn up, and agreements made where the DUST corp can obtain those resources for the capsuleers or EVE corp and get a cut of the ISK that the EVE corp generates for their efforts.
As PC districts are obtained, corps would then enter a Simcity-esque mode of acquiring those resources at their district. Certain parameters would have to be met before certain items could be placed. For example, you cannot place an Isogen mine if your district does not sit atop or near Isogen - you cannot place transport Maglevs if you do not have another district on the planet, etc etc. Terran Logistics Officers and CEO's would be the ones to place assets. There would be mines, refineries, shipment facilities, warehouses, and the coveted SPACE ELEVATOR. All of these assets will of course cost ISK not only to build, but to maintain.
BUT WAIT AISHA, YOU MENTIONED PVE!
Well PVE could be built into PC. PC could take place in high sec and low sec. NPC controlled corps would be in high sec. Attacks on these PC districts would not be initiated by other corps, but by drone infestations. An NPC corp member would get a notification that their district is under attack by drones and they must defend it or face the possibility of having an asset damaged. NPC corp PC districts will already have the proper assets placed, so no one person gets to place assets for resource gathering. Players will be able to mine, refine, drive cargo vehicles, or work security.
Non NPC Corp PC
Attacks can be initiated by other corps vested in PC, EVE Capsuleers (but they MUST have at least 1 DUST merc fighting for them), or drone infestations. An attack cannot be initiated if another is already in effect. For example, an EVE Corp cannot launch an attack from space if a drone infestation is underway, or another DUST corp cannot attack if an EVE corp has already launched one. EVE corps will be able to search for DUST mercs they find viable and issue contracts to them to fight for them, or simply have the merc join their corp. I want it to be very clear that an EVE corp must have at least one soldier on the ground to initiate an attack.
Non NPC Corp PVE
NPC bots could be hired to be miners, technicians, scientists, cargo movers, etc etc. Players that a part of the corp that own the district could then engage in PVE through mining, refining resources, scanning (on foot) for denser resource deposits, driving cargo vehicles, etc. Players would receive ISK in the manner of a paycheck - the more you do, the more ISK you receive. This will be a break from pubs and another way to generate ISK. To keep things fresh and from feeling too much like Minecraft, drones will be able to attack districts. The NPC's will be able to help you fight, but it is your job as an immortal soldier to be the main force defending your assets and NPC employees from harm. For drones destroyed ,a player will also garner ISK.

Fights over Districts
At some point, another DUST corp or EVE corp is going to want what you're selling and sitting on. Not only will battles take place on the ground, but in space as well. To strengthen the immersion factor, a DUST merc will be able to look upwards and see the battle taking place. I'm talking seeing laser bolts, laser beams, flashes simulating explosions, etc etc. Debris from the battle in space would rain onto the district akin to the Caldari Prime event. As ships are popped in space, you will see the wreckage of the ship streaking through the atmosphere - some landing in your district, some being implied as landing elsewhere on the planet.
Wreckage and debris falling into your district would initiate something I could a living battlefield. The battlefield would change as time progressed. A once open field may now have the wreckage of a Rifter in it providing some cover. Debris may have struck a smokestack of a refinery and created a bottleneck on the ground. The battlefield would be constantly changing and would never be the same. It would make you feel like you're a part of a major battle - something larger than what we currently play, and keep players on their toes.

You've got some pretty interesting takes on aspects of the game. I am pretty keen on using the EVE / Dust linkage as a way of expanding the game and reinforcing the CCP player base.
I do have a few questions for you (same as I pose to all candidates). Some of these you have partially answered, for example, Racial Suits being of utmost priority so I apologize for any redundancy.
1) Other than the forums how do you intend to collect and communicate requests, needs, POV of the community? In particular, those outside your corp / alliance.
2) What level of interaction would you like to establish between the CPM and CSM?
3) What are the top 3 short term (next 2mo's) changes you would encourage CCP to make? Looking for items that are actually feasible to achieve in the time limit.
4) What are the top 3 mid term (next 6mo's) changes you would encourage CCP to make?
5) In Spring of 2015, when CPM1's term is up, what would you want people to have said about your tenure as a CPM member?
6) Will you be creating a channel for folks to meet and sqd with you during the period before the election?
Thank you for your time. |

1) I would use a mixture of Skype, Twitter, Facebook, and DUST itself to communicate with other players. If anyone needs or would like to speak with me at any time, those options would be available to them.
2) Since DUST and EVE are linked and had the capability to share more than just the universe we reside in, I feel that the CPM and CSM should have a clear open channel of communication. We should be able to interact openly to garner insight on how changes in EVE can affect DUST and vice versa. An open channel of communication between the two will ensure the strengthening of the bond between the games.
3) A look into tanks to see if the the concern over them by the community is well founded, or if they feel that the tanks are where they'd like them to be, if necessary, changes could be made. Customization is another thing I feel that could be implemented soon. As I stated before, people get attached to things they influence and design themselves. Third would be fixes to FW. Timers are needed to prevent districts to be attacked immediately after being one. Changes to ensure that if a faction gets into the hole so to speak, it isn't impossible to claw their way out.
4) Starting to look at PVE. PVE is desperately needed at this point as a way for us all to unwind after playing nothing but pubs non stop and would be an alternate way to get ISK. The new player experience would be next. I believe in a PVE tutorial for new players to get them acclimated to the game before they're thrust into the fray with the veterans. Third would be gathering data and analytics. Once all racial suits are out and racial weapons, CCP would then begin to look at all the data. CCP would use this data to patch the game as it moves forward to ensure that nothing gets out of hand or unbalanced.
5) I would like people to say that I worked well with others and I had a sharp intellect in realizing what gels together well, and what may not flow as easily in the game. I'd like people to say that I definitely wasn't a "yes man" but I treated all members with respect as we shared, reviewed, and critiqued ideas and views.
6) Yes I will be creating a channel in which I'll update the thread one I do so.

Curious what you are specifically referring to about "customization" do you mean vanity or paintbucket style customization or a means to actually impact game play such as different scopes for weapons and such? |

Both. First would come vanity items such as paint bucket for dropsuits and weapons, then later would come scopes and attachments for weapons.

Your suggestion for a Planetary Interaction System for DUST has a lot going for it, but there are probably some non starters in there too. It shows you are intelligent and put a lot of thought into your proposals. Of course with such detailed plans, the worry is weather or not you are able to let go if things are not implemented the way you proposed. As long as you donGÇÖt get too attached to your own ideas, this is starting to look quite promising.

What are your thoughts on dropsuit tiercide? (thread here) Basically: Only 2 tiers, MLT and STD.
MLT basic frames equivalent to the current ADV basic frames.
STD basic frames equivalent to the current PRO basic frames.
STD specialized dropsuits (assault, logi, sentinel, commando, scout) equivalent to the current PRO specialized dropsuits.
Main incentive to spend SP in a specialization skill past level 1 should be the skill bonus. On a related note, basic frame skills need a bonus that applies to all suits of a racial frame (like Amarr medium skill gives bonus to Amarr basic medium, assault, and logi) to justify having 5 levels.
What are your thoughts on making basic frames have a purpose? (thread here) Problems: They cost more than specialized suits despite being inferior, so you can't even use them as a money-saving alternative (which is odd because basic vehicles cost less compared to specialized ones).
Specialist suits are not really specialized if they're basically copy and pasted generalist suits with bonuses slapped on (basic mediums to assaults, basic heavies to sentinels). Generalist suits provide a way to est drive one specialization's role, but not another's; for example, the basic medium lets you test-drive the assault role in a way, but not logi. Basically the basic frames are nt generalized enough for specialized suits to be truly specialized by comparison.
My proposed solutions. They need a price cut, they should be at least 10% cheaper than their specialized counterpart, they should be the cheaper alternative to specialize suits.
They should be very generalized and versatile in slot layouts compared to their specialist counterparts, like a middle ground between the specializations of the suits; this could be done by altering the basic frames (like medium basics get a 2nd equipment slot and lose a module slot in exchange for removing a high slot or something). This would let players try out more roles before deciding what to specialize into.
What are your thoughts on game modes, and how big a priority they need to be? All our modes are currently simple generic game modes, with no design creativity like the original Skirmish 1.0. We need interesting modes with complexity, attack/defend, and multiple stages. (my ideas here, posted in someone else's thread)
Ambush is broken, and has ALWAYS been broken since the dawn of Dust. Its about time we abandoned the idea of "random" spawns, and use defended spawn bases; our spawn points are very predictable anyway so they're already like that anyway. (thread)
Domination is not only not unique enough compared to Skirmish, its also boringly one-sided, the team that gets the objective first and spams the most uplinks generally wins. The objective needs to cycle to various spots on the map to keep things interesting, and to give the losing team a chance. (thread)
PVE, I want it. PVPVE would also be nice (2 human teams, and 1 rogue drone team fight for control of an outpost, drones can take back objectives)
What are your thoughts on the new player experience, and how to improve it? PVE?
Gameplay tutorial for shooting, hacking, squad orders, calling strikes, calling in vehicles, recalling, using equipment, vevicle modules, etc?
Academy graduation requirements?
Tiercide?
What are you thoughts on elevating Dust's beyond that of a basic shooter, and daring to do crazy cool things? and how big a priority it should be? Fun crazy equipment? (example, not my idea)
Fun crazy installations? (example)
Fun crazy scifi environments? exotic planet types? alien vegetation (not necessarily green, should depend on star type and light received)? shipboading (EVE player ship, or NPC ships)? 0 gravity with thruster packs?
Expanding the MMO aspects? Walking stations where both EVE and Dust players can hang out?
I would like to hear your thoughts on these things.

Here are my thoughts on dropsuit tiericide and basic frames
Get rid of basic frames in the first place - they are an obvious SP and ISK sink. I understand the general notion of the basic frame is the allow players to "test out" a suit before they invest into the racial variant of the suit, but imo it simply isn't needed. The basic frames right off the bat cost MORE than the specialized racial suits that offer up more bonuses that augment a player's playstyle/skill. For a suit that has no bonus whatsoever on it, it should cost less - why pay more for something that is bare bones minimum? Imo, a player should just skill straight into the racial variant of suit that he/she is interested in, if he/she does not like the suit for whatever reason then it is up to them to not to continue wasting their SP in that suit. I personally do not want to sink SP into a bare bones suit with no bonuses up to level three before I can try the suit WITH the bonuses. As stated before, basic suits are an unnecessary SP sink.
As far as tiericide, I am personally fine with the current Basic - Advanced - Prototype layout. It makes sense as you skill (progress) through the game that you gradually go from usable but not as efficient to pro gear. Since the most used suit (usually) for pubs are advanced suits, it does make sense to simply make them the mlt standard issue suit and then make the prototype the standard (the infantrman's work horse) suit but imo proto should not be "run of the mill," it should be something rarer, but not as rare as officer gear. The way I view it, tiericide is an unnecessary change to a system that doesn't need changing - don't try and fix what isn't broken.
Game modes and PVE
I covered my PVE ideas and stances in my PC/PVE idea thread, but at this point I feel that the need for new game modes is reaching a critical high. Personally there are days where I log into DUST, see Ambush, Skirmish, and Domination in the battle finder, and just groan. Face it, the game modes are getting stale. Game modes similar to Battlefield's "Rush" would be a welcome change (similar to Skirmish 1.0). A game mode that ties in EVE somehow would also be a fun addition to the game. Imagine a game mode where we DUST mercs can shoot down ships in orbit but also must cross a "no man's land" that EVE ships can randomly bombard (based off of timers) to try and deliver some sort of package to a space elevator. Game modes will require a lot of imagination and creativity to pull off, but I'd like to see the implementation of at least one new game mode by 1.9.
NPE
New player tutorials should be done through PVE. Something akin to HALO's introductory mission where NPC's walk a new player through the controls and commands so they don't feel so lost form the get go in the game. Only after completing the PVE tutorial would a new player be allowed to enter the battle academy where they can get their first taste of PVP. Even while in the battle academy, new players would get help and tidbits from the DUST AI (Aura) until they are proficient enough to "graduate" from the academy. Graduating from the academy should award new players with bonus ISK and SP so they have more to play around with than what current new players are allotted.
Crazy ideas to elevate DUST
One of my top ideas that I still hope is implemented at some point can be found in my "Weather influencing players/weapons/vehicles" thread. I already mention in my PVE/PC thread that I expect in the future to see the same planet types that are available in EVE Planetary Interaction (PI) to be available in DUST. The weather actually influencing dropsuit or weapon behavior though would be a real treat in my opinion. Imagine the SCR taking longer to overheat in rain, or overheating quicker in a hot, arid sandstorm. Imagine having to fight against the wind to aim effectively. Imagine snow slowing down vehicles and players as they try and trudge through it. Those are just a few ideas that I feel would bring a real "wow" factor to DUST.
