Totally got excited for a second.... but he's right.
Unless... (gets excited again) you have a counter-event that encourages use of proto stuff too. LIke the January scout thing. Like, more proto guns for each kill you make with one.
What to do? RIsk your proto stuff to definitely get more proto stuff -or- use adv/std gear to maybe get some proto stuff?

Just ask yourself what you would do during the event... that is typically what everyone else is going to do.... I would run all standard fits so you get jack sh!t when you kill me... and I would get anything that I killed..
Conversely... If i see everyone running militia **** why would I run proto to get militia stuff from people?
I agree with one of the posters about running a simultaneous event promoting the use of proto gear to get people to run more than milita fits..
Now that I think about it... this event could help player retention for at least the week it was running... newberries would actually have a shot during pub matches with everyone else running militia gear as well....
In conclusion... I don't F'ing know.

You can't forget that this would need to be limited too.
My idea would be to make it about faction rivalries. For instance, if you're Gallente, the first Caldari you kill that day will earn you all his fitting items. Then we could have a few conditions to counter the possibility of some people using just militia or BPOs.
Like, for example, it would only count as first successfull rivalry kill if the enemy killed had at least one equal item to one you had on your suit too. That way, if you limited yourself to using militia shield extenders or militia armor repairers, you wouldn't get someone else's proto items and if you used proto items, you wouldn't get militia items.
Also, if your suit had a BPO, you wouldn't earn the enemy's items. However, if you'd kill someone using BPOs, you'd earn that person's items, except the BPOs.

It'd be nice if we always had a 5-10% salvage on who we, specifically, kill.
FW and PC salvage is nice but it'd be great to be rewarded further for hunting down people with expensive kit specifically.

Ok, i just thought of a simpler option.
The first kill you get on a particular day of an enemy whose fitting costs more than the fitting you're wearing at the moment earns you all his fitting items (except BPOs). Kills with turrets and vehicles don't count.

Good call. Maybe we should just ask CCP to fix salvage so it's not random. That makes things better for the non-proto users, they can at least get some cool stuff for their trouble.
