ok so to those who have thought about it would have already worked out m.t.a.c.'s if they where to be placed into the current dynamic of dust 514 would be either OP or just a big target serving no real propose.
my solution to this problem before it is one.
in eve there are planets that are not fit for infantry to really be present such as storm planets, now hypothetically speaking what if m.t.a.c's where used to deploy infantry to unsuitable worlds, that way you can maintain a balanced game enviroment with out making all m.t.a.c.'s one giant target or massively op, there would still be a skill balance required and maybe have dropsuit (class, racial variant) at level 5 to operate (class, racial variant) of m.t.a.c. This would allow for a second high level activity that is not vulnerable to the current manipulation pc is.
no since this would be a whole new set up differnt mechanics would need to be implemented ie mech movement, ability, weapons modals ect... as for objective's it may be worth considering a base defense or capture mode, possible opening for PvE.
mech's market vaule.
since a m.t.a.c. would basically be a vehicle & this game mode would be high risk high reward, the ttk on m.t.a.c. should be long to allow good use for the device and create a new level of play, since they are mechs as apposed to drop suits, possible damage mechanics could be based around the structural condition of the hul and hydraulics systems, temperature.
game mode.
i propose a 6 v 6 (&/or v3 v e) mission mode where one team has a mission to complete ie security for a facility or running repairs for said facility
team 1's job could be defense of a facility where attacking drone forces are attempting a take over. as apposed to drones team 1 would have the base defenses. this team would be allowed to enter and leave there m.t.a.c as required since they have safe haven for repairs and restock.
team 2 would be with the attacking forces. attempting to over run and take over the facility. this team would only be allowed to leave there m.t.a.c at there vessel of deployment for repairs and restock & when the base has been broken into.
optional team 3 would be a separate mission group with the intention of breaking into the facility and steal information. this team would not have mtacs and primary hindrance would be automated defenses, this team would have no m.t.a.c but using a M.A.V. approve and infiltrate the base this team if there work is sloppy could be intercepted by either team fighting it out for the base.
thats all i got for now, thanks for reading. please leave some feedback about how this idea could be improved upon, idiots not welcome but cant stop you from combobulating a sentence on here. |

Bump.
This would outright balance mtacs as they'd be used in an environment that requires them, after much discussion the conclusion is that mtacs would generally just be free easy kills but in an environment that is inhospitable enough to require them then it'd work.
Can't believe this thread got ignored but then that's just the forums and for anyone wondering, x7 is not an alt of mine lol.

This is amazing. The potential is huge here. If you had a skirmish map with fatal exteriors but objectives spread out across multiple interior complex's you'd have a good time. Your MTAC pilots would move from an interior hanger to the exterior environment. From there to the other complex/building and at attempt to secure a hanger. CRU fitted MTAC suddenly has enemy troops deploying in the secured hanger.
Mind...blown... |

We've talked about mtacs being in mixed battles but generally after looking at all angles the mtacs will always get ROFL stomped or be op, you know how it goes in dust but if they were used as a necessity to an inhospitable environment then they would be balanced.
But most of those convos were before 1.7 so the new mods might make it decent, actually no, mtacs 514, just no. If you think about it, you just know it'd be the norm to come into a match in an mtac, then hop out in proto, it really would just be meh.

With dusts nature, mtacs could easily over night trash dust more than tanks ever could, its an extremely sensitive thing to implement.
