How do you go about a match?

I always die to a turret if I don't first call in a tank and blow up every single turret on the map.

However when I do this, I always force someone to spawn in a rail tank and then calling in a dropship is suicide.

I love piloting but I don't love throwing away isk. What do?

And for Pythons in particular, is there any trick to aiming the turret? How do you guys fit your ships?

I've got a heavy shield extender, hardener and light booster with an ADV missile turret. (still need to up my small missile turrets)

On another note, I've heard it will take the skills of the highest person in the vehicle to apply to a turret no matter who is manning it, is this true?

I'm awesome on the LAV. Pretty darn good in a tank. Dropships are hard. Railguns 2 good.

^ This. More Forge Guns makes for fewer tanks.

Or...if you're lucky you'll be one of 4-5 other Assault Dropships. Then a single rail tank has too many targets and moving amongst eachother will force the shot aimed for you to impact another ship. Dispersing the damage, everyone survives. If there's enough of you can swarm the tank and blast it to little flaming pieces in no time at all.

It'll be like Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.

Dont worry thers plenty of people (like me) that start game with anti tank, tank fit to destroy every single tank and turrets.
No worry, fg on roof, hill can be easy 50wp to rail :].

Ps. Even somone with full militia sica and dmg mods can destroy proto fited maddy/glogi from behind.

i start the match by rushing to the point/s that the reds tend to hack first and stalling their progression further in the map to hopefully alow my team enough time to cap a majority of the bases for an early lead (and easy kills)

if there are an abundance of tanks at the start ill change to tank hunter mode and start hunting the tanks starting with any railguns and working my way down untill im out of ammo

then i start giving my infantry air support doing strafe runs with hardeners running on positions that are either being attacked or softening a red defencive position if i see some blues rushing forwards.

thats pretty much my game plan

Depends on the map, some are good and some are bad for flying, you'll learn which are which. Usually I'll fly high and see what kind of tanks are being brought in, any dropships flying about, who's gong where, etc. After that, I'll just cruise around the map's hot spots, picking off people every now and then but mostly focusing on uplinks, acing my own uplinks, and offering support where it's needed.

Don't stay in one spot for too long, you'll start annoying the enemy to the point of tank spam. I always try to keep moving, orbiting where I'm shooting. Even with the ADSs agility, they're way too slow to escape with cold feet.

My favorite fit currently is 1x Enh Heavy Ex, 1x Cplx Light Ex, 1x Cplx AfterBurner, 1x ADV Missile, 1x PG. Great passive tank at just over 3k (can take 2 shots from a rail) and the AB is great for speed tanking (if they can't hit you you don take damage). The AB is the key defensive player here. I don't like using only 1 hardener, too much cooldown time, and using 2 with an AB is only slightly better ehp than my current set up but with a cooldown time.

I realized the same thing on my LAV fits and went straight for max HP.

I'll try it out on my dropship aswell. I'm not a fan of the afterburner since 1.7 so I'll see what else I can squeeze on that fit.

Pythons is ok I use enhance sheild booster, hander and extanter
I aim with 3 person mode when killing dropsuit or L/HAV and 1rd person mode for dropship (onli when useing rail)
I don't think it tank so much real life skills to use Pythons I do kill any kind of target while flying with top speed even in door(maybe I am too op?lol)
do nomal fixxing is ok don't use booster if you want to not die from rails keep useing hardener

extender, hardener and booster in the highs for me >.< .. if i get hit i boost then harden, there's no point to having great resists if there's no buffer for them (totally personal opinion...)

as someone already said, some maps are kinda bad for dropships.

if theres a rail turret at the start of match that i can get to and clear the rail and missile turrets out... ill go for that before calling in a DS...

most of the time if you know where the rail tank or FG is you can avoid them altogether, its the times when you dont know where they are that you're more likely to lose your DS... or if there are multiples :(

I usually go to the enemy redline to see how many cowards are calling in rail tanks. I destroy all the bullish!t redline rail turrets and them go about destroying every free rail turret I can. If there aren't too many rail tanks I help my team as best I can, transporting people, providing cover, destroying uplinks, scouting positions etc. If there is a rail tank I usually get shot down in two seconds, unless I manage to get away in which case I might be able to engage him if he isn't cowering in the redline.

It breaks my dropship pilot heart to tell you this but if you aren't willing to trow away all your isk to dropships then don't bother. Its sad but true and will drain your isk faster than anything else you can do in this game.

 My python fit is,
 1 complex shield booster
 1 complex shield hardener
 1 basic afterburner
 1 complex pg enhancer
 3 xt missile launchers

At the moment redline rail tanks are breaking tanking and dropshiping. They can cover the whole map from complete safety and there is almost nowhere you can go where you are performing a useful task in a dropship that a redline tank cannot hit you.

At this point of the build don't think that any difficulty you are having is related to your skill, or skill point or your fit. It's a completely unbalanced tank mechanic that is the issue. As soon as that rail tank hits the ground from the RDV he can shoot you; even just after your ship takes off for the first time. No fitting or amount of skill can help you with this.

For now the best you can do is tough it out and give constructive feedback to CCP.
