Let's be real on two levels. 1) Crowd sourcing pretty much works 2) if Dust came out within the first 10 months of the PS4 release it would be at least 3x more popular off the bat given the choices people would have in games on that system. If it's more popular than that would equate to more money for CCP to see some of the changes we want.
So my questions are:
1) How much would you be willing to donate as long as you got compreable rewards? 2) Would you rather see crowdsourcing for PS4 porting or for balancing the game? 3) Would anyone be against having it produced on other consoles (i.e. 360, SteamBox) if the money they made was high enough? |

I'd love to see it on as many different platforms as possible, however, I would bet nearly anything NaziSony has exclusivity agreements.

Crowd sourcing generates money. You still need to be able to do something effective with that money. It is improbable, given the current state of things, that throwing more money at the DUST department would spawn a PS4 port that worked well.
Additionally, since writing DUST for the PS4 would require rewriting the game from scratch, and the PS4 is already out, there is no world in which DUST will come out in the first 10 months of the PS4 release. Because again, throwing money at a project does not equal code existing.

I only partially agree here. I do PM work for all sorts of big projects and am in IT and highly skilled at. I should say i'm consistently a Project Engineer. Proper management and the right crew can easily port this in 6 months if not faster AND it would run just fine. The key is bringing in qualified people and not just relying on operations staff to dev it. A lot of companies that work on proprietary OS's based off of BSD or Linux or developers of special apps or games is that they blur the line of two different departments. Dev is not just dev. The key is creating a operations/support team that does ongoing work and then having the PS4 dev team perform said work. The timelines would have to match up with what they want by a certain date. Proper PM'ing and following existing standards for SDLC would easily make this possible.
I must say that you are correct in that money, by itself, is not helpful. It must be put to proper use. |

What possibly gave you the idea CCP had proper management and the right crew? I mean, have you played the game?

From experience I can say that I have no freaking clue. The truth is that sometimes dev teams are so "tight" that they don't allow or bring in new "talent" to have lively discussion. The best things to come out of anything come from lively discussion. To the untrained eye it looks like a bunch of people who think eachothers stupid and they yell. To an experienced professional it is hashing out details to create perfection.
Again, I'm not saying they do or don't have a proper team or what have you. But there is no doubt a lot of effort from them as far as I can tell. |

If CCP decided to develop dust on the PS4 they will do it, if they decide not to, they wont. and no amount of crowd sourcing will change that.

Knowing first hand that an extra 200k can hire you what you need to do that little extra I will contest that if they want to do it they will do so if manpower and money permits. Maybe that could be an issue. Besides, Crowdsourcing funds can also goto some other areas they think they need, not just PS4 port. I would like a ps4 port...personally because I KNOW it will, at least, tripple the user base if it happens within the first year or so of the PS4 release. |

We need to balance it first otherwise the people who will try it out will leave on their second day. That's what happened to my friends.
After that is done, CCP will have to work on the graphics because most, if not all, players will be expecting a Next Gen game.
If we meet those two things, only then can we port and actually try to get more new players to join... and stay. |
