Iv spent $60 on this game and im getting no results in leveling or advantage and the tank spamming nerfed swarm launchers arnt making it easier it feels more like work than fun. Iv been playing for a month and i barely have all adv equipment. If there was a way for ccp to reduce the sp requirement for fresher players Thatd be great and i know theres the drawback of people who have played since day one making new accounts but at this rate theres less people takinging intrest in dust514. Id be great if a DEV could comment on this issue cause im one tank spam killing away from quitting and putting the game down for good.

Don't play ambush and try not to spread your SP too thin. Concentrate on getting ADV in one suit, one or two weapons as well as dropsuit upgrades. |

To be honest with you bro, I felt your pain. I took 3 weeks off this game and felt so much better. I came back and redid all my suits. My proto swarms are forever retired. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO is definitely use a squad when you play, which I'm sure you already do. Then when you see tank heavy matches, pull out your regular suit, but instead of swarms on your av fit have a suit with av grenades and a nanohive. Throw a hive in the middle of the street and spam the hell out of the grenades with your buddies. This seems to be the best way to kill tanks. When your entire squad works in unison the tankers will not have a chance. You can even strafe against a blaster / rail tank with ease just keep bobbing and weaving (jumping and strafing).

I've put around 300-500 dollars into the game because I support it and I've been here since beta.
People that say that they put money into the game and then complain about how that doesn't give them an advantage or their way make me laugh.
Harden the **** up. You're not buying Dust 514 when you buy a pack or AURUM; you're paying to show support. That's it. Anything you get, no matter how big or how small, is just a bonus.

Dust is more of a game of specialisation. To hone your skills into a specific class and a weapon/s that; that class gives bonus to. It is and should not be a game where you play it for a couple of months to unlock everything.
The Assault class is a good one to go for if you're someone who is looking to GÇ£unlockGÇ¥ all the gear quickly. Logistics on the other hand is a different story seeing as it had a lot of equipment slots to fill out and is slightly harder to play, seeing as it doesn't have a sidearm.
I've put over -ú250 into it, IGÇÖve never spend this much on any game but I don't feel I should be getting an advantage in SP over someone who hasn't spent RL money on it. Having said that, if you have any AURUM you should invest in a passive 30 day booster as it nets you around 36,000 SP per day, which is just over 1 Million SP per month! Make sure you log in every day for 7 days to gain the 6k SP extra per day from then onwards. Active boosters will net you even more SP the more you are playing but can be a waste of AURUM if you're not actively playing it.
I wouldn't get too bummed out by having not yet unlocked advanced gear, its a game of patience. Stick with it, don't lose hope and youGÇÖll start to dominate on the battlefield. Good luck o7

Gear is not everything.
I mainly play with cheap as free stuff.
I get a strange sense of satisfaction killing pro users with Militia tags. I also die a lot. But its fuunnn!

Definately this, I use starter fits in pubs. Admittedly I have an advantage in that I will have a much greater depth of core skills, and weapon proficiency skills for instance are the equivalent of a militia damage mod per level but getting into that proto suit isn't the be all and end all unless you are running PC.
The big key to this game is squadding, running solo will only result in frustration in the long run for a great many. There are those who live for it though. Squadding keeps you alive which lessens the frustration, which in turn will allow you to devote the time to the game that it needs.
Easy for me to say having been around since closed beta I admit. |

CCP managed to recreate the learning cliff from EVE despite trying to avoid it. Complexity, commitment and loss create a deeper game but make it damn hard for the rookie to climb up from that first day in the academy to a point where they feel competitive with the veterans. Those that survive the climb are most certainly worthy to run as a mercenary. The rest have been ground up, spit out and returned to easier games.
1. Find friends and run with a squad. You can be a lone wolf but its much harder. 2. Advanced gear is a sweet spot of price versus performance. Avoid the temptation to go straight to prototype. 3. Figure out what skills are core to your specialization and focus on those. 4. You are specializing, right? 5. Don't get into vehicles until you know the game and have a decent infantry role you can make money with. 6. AV is a tough business right now so I'd focus on avoidance until you understand it.
I urge you to stick it out. Don't become DUST road kill.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!
I actually laughed at the bolded part because you have no idea how good people have it these days, whether vet or rookie. We didn't have an Academy, a tutorial, a holding hand. You know what we had? Relentless beatings from the older players, those that had been around just a bit longer. You know what happened to the open beta people? We beat the **** out of them over and over. That's how things went down. They either toughed it out or they left.
Many left.
The closed beta vets will jab one another in the gut with their elbow and go "you remember the days?", while the open beta vets will simply go "I'm glad that **** is over with". The closed beta vets like myself are, well, bored. There's a lot of us just lingering around, waiting for things to pick up. What is going on is the open beta vets, bitter from the closed beta vets, are passing the tradition of beating the **** out of rookies and causing bitterness.
You know why?

TBH this is one of the best F2P games i've ever played. And if u didn't get no decemt advanced gear after one month, there seems smthg wrong with your playstyle maybe?
Tanks are much more annoying than they used to be before though, i'll give u that. Not because of their hardeners or anything but for their ability to turbo-boost away Michael Knight style whenever they're about to be destroyed by my forge or SL. :) That's really annoying

Advice even with plenty of SP speccing in to av to go after tanks solo is a loosing battle at this time in your development.
Pick up a gun of your choice and try to ignore the urge to fight the tanks.
When I forget to listen to my own advice and start forge gunning solo. They become very frustrating matches!
AV is for multiple players to work together on. |

Personaly one day I got super mad, said fck everyone, they need to die and figured out how to do it.
I almost always solo and get pubstomped with no squad or corp and have a 1.91 kdr without use of proto 90% of the time and it is still improving.
focus more on picking fights, pissing people off and saving isk than equipment.
True players know thats the real game.

A fine post.
As an open-beta "vet" I concur, although I don't ever have time to differentiate between rookies and vets. Its just "enemy!-pewpew!-outcome."
If you see me in the redline, driving an LAV in circles, fear not! Its my two year old son enjoying New Eden.
