Many of you think ADS is really great and all but im here to burst the bubble.
CCP's ninja nerf the ADS...
-Railgun Rof and damage buff -your ship got more cpu and pg in 1.7, great, the fitting requirements also went up for small turrets -you lost slots -tanks are hard to kill now unlike before where you could own tanks in 1.7
Other stuff -they are still expensive as fk...
All in all... we are back where we started, (derpships are still derpy) |

And shield/missile tanks still suck worse than armor or rail/blaster tanks despite missiles costing higher sp sink to use and make them at all effective.

Assault Dropships are a powerful asset on the battlefield: they can utterly dominate a stretch of the battlefield and deny infantry the space to manoeuvre, but they are also incredibly vulnerable to certain methods of removal, primarily the Large Railgun.
They are niche and expensive, and unfairly unbalanced when compared to some elements of the game, but they are in one of the best places they have been since Closed Beta while they are actually competitive against the relevant counters without being broken like back before Chromosome (or was it Chromosome? I forget...)
Swarms and Forges are still definitely relevant versus Dropships (though the former could do with a small buff) and I have lost many Dropships to excellent Forge Gun users who aren't even using the highest end gear. I got taken down multiple times in one match to an ADV Assault Forge Gun running two ADV Damage Mods: it's certainly not impossible to bring us down, but it definitely is not easy.
My only gripe is about the ridiculous ROF of the Large Railguns: even if I react in the split second I have, I will still likely be taken down because the shooter rarely has to adjust aim much and my active defences are simply inadequate. If we were forced to retreat after the first hit and had a reasonable chance of survival after the initial damage I'd be absolutely fine with the current state of affairs. |

The ADS is great, they just need to stop the aiming reticle from constantly forcing you back to center all the time. It's fine with missiles since you only need to be on target for a split second, but for blasters and rails where you have to hold your aim it is near impossible since you have to keep fighting the reticle wanting to return to center.
Also they need to make the ADS transparent when aiming down in third person as well as make the right stick up and down move the aiming reticle when in first person (and like mentioned above, not automatically return to center).
