So a point someone brought up in another thread was that the supposed new racial skills for assault dropsuits are inconsistent. And upon further inspection.... they are. So here is my spin on the whole thing.....
Assault Dropsuits, along with every dropsuit for that matter, should have THREE not two skill bonuses. Furthermore the skills given to each assault suit should be consistent and actually make sense. The following is each type of skill.
1.)Racial Bonus: So this skill would be consistent to all suits of a certain race. (IE: Gallente and possibly amarr would get a bonus to Armor plate module efficacy per level. In contrast the minmatar/caldari suits would get bonuses to shield modules).
2.) Suit Class Bonus: So this skill would be consistent across all dropsuits of the same class (IE: all assault suits would get a RoF increase to weapons compared to other suit classes)
3.) Suit Specific Bonus: This should be across the board weapon specific. Meaning that for example, a minmatar suit would have a bonus to minmatar weapon clip size. This way the SMG and Combat rifle both get buffed if there getting used on a minmatar assault suit. The same theme would apply to the other suits as well, Gallente would buff any gallente weapon if it were on the assault suit.
I read the proposed racial skills on the sisi server and while its encouraging that CCP is trying to mix things up a bit, I think they could have done a bit better.
This is my take on what the assault suit bonuses should be.
Amarr Assault suit:
Amar Racial Bonus: 5% reduction to laser heat build up per level ORRRR 5% armor module efficacy per level (I mention laser heat build up because I think all the amar racial suits should be able to use laser based weaponry without having to worry about overheating all of the time like every other suit does currently) Assault suit bonus: 2% increase to RoF per level Amar Assault Bonus: 5% increase to laser weaponry heat cool down rate per level
Caldari Assault suit:
Caldari Racial Bonus: 5% shield module efficacy per level Assault suit bonus: 2% increase to weapon RoF per level Caldari Assault Bonus: 10% reduction to rail rifle spool up time per level
Gallente Assault suit:
Gallente Racial Bonus: 5% armor module efficacy per level Assault Suit Bonus: 2% increase to weapon RoF per level Gallente Assault Bonus: 2% damage increase and clip size to increase to gallente weaponry per level (its hard to buff an "all around weapon" without making it not "all around", hopefully the clip size increase would effect the plasma cannon into giving it two rounds per clip too).
Minmatar Assault Suit:
Minmatar Racial Bonus: 5% increase to Shield recharge rate and efficacy of shield modules Assault Suit Bonus: 2% increase to weapon RoF per level Minmatar Assault Bonus: 5% increase to clip size for minmatar weaponry per level (IE: SMG/CR)
These are just, what in my opinion, would be good examples of skills CCP could use to give assault suits (and every suit) more identity as these skills really make it so that you'll want to spec into one suit based on the type of weapon you want to try and use. Or one weapon based on the type of suit you want to use. By giving suits racial themes, it gives every suit under one race a special "racial identity". By giving each suit a class bonus it gives each class a "class identity". And by giving each suit a specific bonus native to that suit it gives each suit a "specific identity"
by having all this "identity" it would allow for increased gameplay complexity in that, for example, say I spotted a minmatar assault. Immediately I would think "chances are this guy has a combat rifle, hes more mobile then most, and likely has damage mods to supplement the already high DPS of the CR, I don't want to get close to that guy because he'll rip me up close quarters". By having and knowing about identity like that in the game it adds a lot more depth to the gameplay and therefore helps create a more immersive gaming environment.
But this is just how I personally feel the assault suits should be in terms of bonuses. Obviously many of you may disagree and that's why im posting this here. To "discuss" it. Basically I disagree with the supposed bonuses on the sisi server right now, and im hoping they get a serious reworking before 1.8 comes out (when im suspecting all this stuff will be dropping, definitely no later then 2.0 obviously).
