So I hear that the 2014 fanfest is coming along soon, but I have very little idea about whats happened before. Anyone can sum up the last few fanfests that mentioned dust? |

Last year's FF had 3 main keynotes, DUST 514, EVE and CCP Presents. The first two covered the respective games and the 3rd was more about the company's branching products and initiatives. The D414 keynote covered stuff like racial variants of weapons, dropsuits and vehicles and other things like the removal of UVT. CCP Presents delved deeper into the future and touched on things like more racial variants to landscapes etc, thingslike anti grav maps and penetration mode aka titan boarding.
There were roundtables on things like corps, PC and other areas and some really cool presentation, my fav being the Advancing the Core presentation held by CCP Praetorian and Remnant. They talked about the core mechanical changes that would come within the next 6-18+ months. It was in this presentation that I fell instantly in love with electronic warfare  Remnant had me at 'scramble maps, turn off voice'.
Aside from that the devs were often seen just casually chatting to random groups of gamers here and there.

TL;DR :: They do a lot of lectures, field test new things, showcase new stuff, go on pub crawls, get wasted and have a bucket load of fun.

The actual keynotes are like, and and a bit hours, and I can't be arsed to watch all of that fluff just for a few small pieces of information. |

FanFest 2009
Dust 514 debut. Shows large maps, moving MCCs, and fighter jets. Vehicles earned through warpoints. Players owned warbarges. Pretty much nothing at all like the Dust we know today.
FanFest 2010-2011
Meh, not much and didn't pay much attention
FanFest 2012
PVE again rouge drones coming at the end of 2012, Arena mode with games like CTF and deathmatch, where Dust and EVE players can spectate and make bets, coming early 2012. New planet types coming in 2012. All lies.
FanFest 2013
All racial suits coming within the next 6 months (which would be by the end of last October), Amarr and Minmatar vehicles and MCCs as well coming very soon. Also Caldari and Amarr fighter jets and speeder bikes. Oh, and PVE too. All lies.
Quite honestly, there hasn't been a single Fan Fest yet that has accurately told us anything about the future of Dust.

Oh stop being such a drama queen. Lies lies lies! Do you think CCP has a team dedicated to making up lies to troll players? Maybe its just the floating and dynamic nature of creating a game by a company that utilises community feedback and changes its plans accordingly?
