Basic suits should have a purpose other than being a bridge for the " more efficient role playing suits " that can not even be accessed without placing quite an amount of skill points into . I can make some simple suggestions but they would be basic just like the suits and would not be race related , maybe the community could chime in if they feel that this ideal is reasonable .
Across the board no matter of race the suits should have a 2% armor plate efficacy rate per level or a same percentage rate but applied to the armor repairer as well , either or would suffice . A 2% shield extender efficacy or the same percentage applied to the recharge rate ( seeing as how shield extenders are taxed now ) per level would work wonders as well , so you have 2 % for shields and armor that would help to make the suits useful instead of not being a desired choice once the role related suits are obtained and just sitting as lost isk's in someone's stock pile .
This would also help players who are new understand the suits bonuses and would be more opted to spend skill points on other items like mods or weapons and not feel so help less in doing do . This would make the basic suits " worth something " because right now as it stands , they are not besides using them as a bridge to the roles .
Being Caldari I would rather use a standard assault than my basic advanced series because of the role bonuses even though it doesn't have the extra slot or the computer or programming usage and the 2% per level would make some even gain a basic prototype because one would understand that they would " actually gain " something other than just a basic prototype suit . Yes prototype is nice but when it has a role bonus to it , that makes it all the more worth having . The Basic Prototype suit costs more than a Prototype Assault and can do nothing more than the assault can , actually it's a far lesser suit when you figure in the maxed out bonuses that are added in .
This would help everyone a lot and make better use of the basic suits and also raise the level of competition . It's hard enough being militia when one starts and really it's a up hill climb and this would make the climb more worthwhile and place their feet even more firmer on the ground .
Please think this over CCP I'm sure for many it would be well appreciated .
Thank you .

Umm you do realise basics suits do have skill bonuses applied to them what ever level you have that class at...
Ok so say if you have prototype logistics; which has the 5hp/s armor rep bonus, all basic suits of that class/race will have that bonus applied to it too.
All of the +2% armor and shield efficiency you talk about is what the GÇ£Shield ExtensionGÇ¥ and GÇ£Armor PlatingGÇ¥ skills are for, which apply to all suits in game, including the AURUM and BPO ones. They are only a x3 multiplier skill which only requires 18,660 SP to get to level 1.

Basic frame suits are basically assaults without bonuses at the moment. I would say give them 1 bonus instead of 2 like the assault has. For gallente you could give it the PG/CPU bonus for hybrid weapons or a bonus to armor plates.

I agree that basic suits should have skill bonuses, but that's not all.
Apart from Amarr basic heavy, which has it's use due to having 2 high slots, all other basic suits are pretty much useless. Medium basic suits are essentially the same as their respective assault variants, but lacking any skill bonus, and (to make things even more pointless) cost more ISK than their specialized variants.
All basic dropsuit variants should have "general purpose" slot layouts, and should receive one skill bonus which would also be in the "general purpose" category. Their cost should also not be greater than that of the specialized variants.

I'm talking about BASIC SUITS , you know the suits that you have before you can access the logi or the assault . You know that you DO NOT go STRAIGHT to the role suits i.e. assaults or logi , commando and so on until you have reached level three of ANY BASIC SUIT . THE BASIC SUIT not the basic of the role but the actual basic suit . It seems that you misunderstand what I am speaking about .

That's what I was talking about when I mentioned about the community chiming in because I'm sure that YOU know what each race needs better than I do .
It needs something though to make it more than what it is .
Thanks Dark Cloud and the rest of you for your thoughts .

I support this idea, always have.
Some spitballing:
Amarr - n% to shield/armor fitting (to make better use of the dual tank, DUST characteristic) | n% to armor amount Caldari - n% to shield amount Minmatar - n% to shield recharge wait/delay | n% to stamina recovery (for speed tank usage) Gallente - n% to armor repair | n% to armor amount (DUST characteristic)

That is well thought out and actually serves purpose . More along the lines of what I would have liked to have said .
Keep it coming people this is getting good and maybe this will inspire some type of change , even if it's when the racial completed suits are introduced .

I think they should just scrap them. I think it would be better to have: Dropsuit Command > Scout/Sentinel/etc
Once all the racial suits come out, maybe have: Dropsuit Command > Race > Class
The second idea sounds better to me. |

The second idea sounds better to me. So if that's the case, would you rather see militia sentinels and assualts, or get rid of the militia variants all together?

Your smart and prob borderline genius and I say that because that is what CCP will do more than likely .
Just look at the change to the vehicle skill tree and what you speak on just mimic's that concept .
Could you elaborate if you will about your thoughts , you might be looking into the future .

If they did the second thought of yours , what would " Race " give ..??.. because it should have something as a bonus and not be a skill point sink . NO MORE SKILL POINT SINKS CCP ... PLEASE !!!
Citizenship like some have asked about concerning the FW ??? Race based bonuses ???
