I find that the weapon wheel is not very responsive, especially in regards to equipment items. I often find myself trying to switch to REs, and having sound effects as if I have switched to REs from my weapon, only to find myself holding the same weapon.
On several occasions this has resulted in death, or at the very least missing opportune moments.
I don't use my directional buttons at all, and I think that one or two could be sacrificed for equipment slots. I would think this would be especially beneficial to logis who carry multiple items.
I think allowing us to map equipment to attach equipment items would greatly alleviate any problems I have trying to switch in the heat of the moment.

Would love this functionality.
As an added supporting argument, you would still be able to access the Player List, Vehicle Deployment and Overhead Map from the Neocom. I think the only things that would need to reworked (assuming an optional control scheme) would be Push To Talk and Orbital Strikes. |

I would love it, if it was optional. I'd shoot every person taking their thumb off the left stick to swap equipment. It would be hilarious.

Allowing mapping would enable you to use the wheel, while I can use directional arrows. So really, you are only -1 to everyone who would use this, and how we should all do things just one way.

As an aside, I would very much like to see this implemented for vehicle modules too. I know there can be more than four active modules on a vehicle (potentially) but being able to map some to the D-Pad would cut down on accidental module turn-offs, which are frustrating as all hell. |

+1 ive always wanted this, like Kingdom hearts style, biggest pain in the ass tanking/pilot with mouse and keyboard when you activate one module and go to activate another and because its either too sensitive or not sensitive enough you end up instantly turning off that module |
