2nd hardener gives 60% times .87 from .6, So .2088 is gained from second hardner, for a total of 80.88 resist.

It's actually a bit complicated because resistance mods aren't calculated the same way as normal mods are because they are a reduction in a value (damage) rather than in increase. I could give you the long explanation but the short version is yes they have a stacking penalty but it is more severe than it is with other modules.

^ correct, but for say swarms, you wouldn't add an extra 20%, It would be (base damage x base resistance) x (hardener total effect) So 80.88% resist against swarms at 220 damage(?) would be 176 damage without modules, 33.6 per missile with 2 hardeners.
(I took 176, multiply by .8088, then subtract that from 176, which makes 33.64) So one proto volley of 6 no damage or prof is 201 per voley.

True, so while the first mod is 60% off of 100% damage, the second is being used as a reduction against the remaining 40%, so 40% is what you take the next 52.2% away from, which is 20.88,
