I usually don't like raging against DEVs, but after today I have enough of this game.
Today I was sniping with my charged sniper rifle and I emptied an entire magazine missing all the shots. But unlike you may say, I always had the crosshair RED and there were no obstacles between me and the target, and my aim is not that bad since in the same match I landed an headshot at 547 m.
Against another enemy: steady sight, first shot is a hit, second shot is a miss - dot always red and target standing still.
And there were many more "dumb" rounds...
How are snipers supposed to help their team if they can't hit the broadside of a barn???
If you want to remove us that's ok (actually it's not, but it's still better than nerfing us in every possible way), but if you want to keep the role of the sniper, try at least to make it working in a reasonable way.
If you are an hacker, a cheater o a glitcher, you deserve death. In real life.

I would give up now, CCP has hated snipers since the onset of this age and at every build they got nerved in someway or another, it's the sole reason i gave as a sniper.

change the title to Hit detection if you really want them to read this since i just thought this might be just someone whining but it's happening to other people and weapons.

So far I can't recall a similar situation of a non-hit despite the red crosshair; but honestly, for a full-auto firing weapon it's not the worst situation (even if I remember a few episodes where my enemy survived with 10~20 HP left)... it's a different thing for a sniper whose shot can OHK some enemies or at least force them to retreat.
But I'll do as you suggest by editing the title and adding the reason behind this topic.

hit detection on the SR is just this side of useless.
There's been a hate on for snipers for a very long time, I wouldn't bet on it getting fixed any time soon. I just gave up trying

I started off sniping in this game and every time I find good sniper spot to attack/defend objectives at without the use of a drop ship...it seems to magically become blocked off at certain angles every few updates to keep it from being used anymore. Funny thing is the locations aren't even in the redline. The sniper towers don't help, you get stuck in them if you touch the walls and even some of the useful towers from older patches that were closer to all the action have been taken away. There were certain spots where I could rack up a decent amount of kills just by helping with defense, those are gone now. I don't use it as much anymore because of that reason, seems very unbalanced obstacles are being placed at just the right angle at elevated areas to keep people from being sniped when you are in an area they can easily reach if they looked. Good thing I decided to put points into shotgun at least.
Level 5 Proficiency in basket weaving.
