I think it will be changed in the future, but I hope they keep it or reintroduce it as a side suit at advanced.
It could be Gallente's take on the Minmatar scout.

I really feel sorry for Amarr scouts when they come out. 1 1 layout at pro I'm sure.
It's funny being in one role for so long (vehicles) and switching over to infantry and seeing all the stupid design choices from a whole new perspective.
High slots have extenders and dmods. Low slots have armor, codebreakers, stamina, kincats, dampeners, etc etc etc. |

back during the early beta, there was only 1 scout, the gallente. At the time, the proto scout fitting had the setup:
3 H 2 L 1 E
When the Minmatar scout came about, CCP wanted that setup to belong to the minmatar's while the speed/stealth setup belonged to the Gallente. CCP only changed the proto level scout setup and after some time, players began using the neo proto scout to fulfill their slot setup needs until the neo scout was also changed. CCP has yet to correct this confusion since they have had other things to work on, but this explains why the gallente scout follows the pattern:
mlt: 1 H, 1 L std: 1 H 2 L adv: 2 H 2 L pro: 1 H 4 L
instead it used to be:
mlt: 1 H 1 L std: 1 H 2 L adv: 2 H 2 L pro: 3 H 2 L
i know this since I was trying to be a thale sniper with the scout suit.
I personally think the current gallente scout setup should be:
mlt: 1 H 1 L std: 1 H 2 L adv: 1 H 3 L pro: 1 H 4 L
this is to emphasize the use of catyzers for speed and dampeners for stealth. |

no, beta proto scout used to be 3 high slots 3 low slots. Uprising Scouts are missing a slot from their beta counter-parts.
Mk.0 had 3 highs, light weapon, sidearm, equipment, 3 lows. 100 shields, 70 armor
Mk.1 had 3 highs, Light weapon, 2 equipment, 3 lows, 70 shields, 130 armor

I think the Gal adv should he 1H/3L for the adv slot layout. This is more in keeping with the Gal combat philosophy. Don't know why CCP did it the way they did.

Oh yeah! there were 2 proto suits! I exclusively run amaar assault now so that memory is way in the back of my mind. I ran scout exclusively as a sniper but never made it to the proto. Not only did you miss the extra slot but you also missed an extra low slot. And I am pretty sure that the current Gal proto has always been 1H/4L, so I don't know where the hell you're coming up with that other stuff you were talking about.
As to why the Gal S adv has 2/2 it is a mistery that I have try's to unravel in several threads but CCP never responds to me (it might be because I am a bit of an @$$hole sometimes, don't think they like me very much).

when the new racial suits were introduced the gallente scout proto changed slot layout to be 1H4L, but the neo scout variant retained it's vk.0 slot layout for some time.
as for why the adv is 2L2H instead of 1L3H, CCP forgot to change it to match the consistency between the basic and the proto. |

worse time of my scouts life was waiting for proto, I mainly ran my dragonfly BPO scout suit. ADV seemed like more monet than worth. should have gone MLT/STD 1/2 ADV 1/3 PRO 2/4

The argument could be made that the current ADV GalScout layout allows for a harder-hitting option for Proto GalScout sneakiness. Run on your skilled dampening, put in two damage mods and armor up the other slots. If skilled well, you're still ok for stealth and you're deadlier to boot.

As long as the CPU and Power was sky high and base armor was ditto, and you gave the Amarr proto scout two light weapons slots and two equipment slots, I'm pretty sure no one would complain much (well, they would, but it would be at the DACL (dust average complaint level)).
