Hey, I'd like to make a video about the differences between the different rifles, but I would like some community feedback before I get started.
Here's my AR video about its effectiveness at different ranges: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTEoWijPFvM&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I'd like to do something similar to this, but just general ranges and with the std weapon variants only. The video will mainly be about what each rifle excels in, while also comparing their effectiveness at close, medium, and long ranges.
So I have a few questions (answer as many or as little as you like:
1. What should I improve on in this video that I didn't do in the previous one? 2. Are variants important or should I save them for a separate video? 3. What ranges should I test the weapons at? (I was thinking 10-30 meters for close range, 40-50 for medium, and 70-80 for long range) 4. Would it be better if I controlled the weapons, or just fired them as fast as possible and letting the natural kick of the weapon factor into the comparison? (or both?) 5. Are there other comparisons you would like to see such as the difference between a fully skilled rifle vs one with only level 1 operation? Damage mods vs no damage mods? 6. Should I include my own opinions in the video or create a separate one comparing them with my own thoughts about the weapons?
I want to make the video very easy to understand, while still giving enough information so that skilled players would find it interesting too. I look forward to your thoughts.
(If you would like to help with the video, please send me a message in-game or find me in the darkstar army channel. I need a heavy with shield and armor upgrades at 5 (1200 ehp), and a logi).

My opinion:
Pick your audience. I would recommend newer players.
Hit these points, because they are both important and easily overlooked by newer players.
1. +/- percents on shield vs armor, be sure to focus a little bit of attention on the recognition of racial dropsuit types and what they typically tank
2. Ranges, focuse footage on what those ranges look like in combat, not just aiming at an enemy installation. Try to even use places on maps people know, like table to supply depot on line harvest, or the distance from the B balcony to the CRU on the Galenta research facility.
3. Target intel
4. Support equipment/weapons to the rifle. For instance, if you're running a combat rifle, you better have a hive, SCRs and locus go well together, flux/CR, etc.
5. Hip fire vs ADS and when to use one over the other.
6. Maybe a little talk about secondary skills? For instance, the high ROF weapons benifit more from Sharpshooer, while the high damage more from proficiency. Ammo capacity is a good one from CR Optimization is worth it for high PG rifles, but useless on AR/CR.
7. Fitting cost and what that may mean to a player and other items they want to fit, for instance, the high PG cost of the SCR encourages Dmg mods and armor, while the low PG requirements for the AR allows for easier fitting of shield extenders. In general, I would say do them in a series, not one video. No one likes a 30 minute YouTube video, and no one will want to pan through looking for your take on the RR. But if you do one video good, they'll check out your others if they are interested in the next rifle.
Find a format and stick to it for all of your videos. Seperate your sections well to make them nerf prof. In other words, if you have a section (chapter) talking about +/- percents, be ready to redo that section due to a CCP change.

Good video.
Thanks for posting.
Although I would argue that dusts portrail of the AR is actually more realistic in terms of whats present in battlefield weapons.
However that being said, its a game, and the goal is to produce a fun experience not a realistic portrayal. I think you have to keep in mind that if the realistic shooters genuinely tried to copy real life it would be a pixel shoot at 500m.
