This game is too brutal on new comers, give them no cap till 10 M SP.
At the end of that they may receive one respec due to there noob mistakes of speccing into the first level of every suit.
The game feels okay, but no one is going to get falconed punched for 2 straight months till they can acquire enough SP to get a decent fit.
It was different for us Vets we all started from the bottom together and in a way we all progressed somewhat at the same rate. New comers get welcome squads of elite corps tank and proto trolling.

If they employ this I should get like 3m from all that grinding if my 1000 sp match was 5-6 I would have more sp.

The Older the game gets the more viable this is. 5m is reasonable now but 10m eventually.
Allow Corporations of DUST to expand their competitive rosters for FW, PC without having to wait 4-8 months. If we had active populations like Pre Uprising 1.4 then expansion wouldn't be an issue, But we are having community members quit DUST daily and it gets hard to keep expanding corporations or newly aspiring ones. |

Yeah I think if they gave us the 16 man deploy for FW than small clans from other games can try out Dust together.
They would join FW and try to bring their squad tactics over to Dust. If they like the game they can grind there way into a proto suit. It will give survivability to a new comer.

I definitely agree with the notion of everyone getting one free "newb" respec at a certain point. And by everyone, I mean all the current players as well as the future players who have yet to play their first match. At some point after getting a certain number of skill points, give people the opportunity to correct their mistakes.
Why? Because the game already takes a ridiculously long time just to create a character that has enough unlocked to compete in say Planetary Conquest. Why make it even longer by forcing the new players to live with their early mistakes and essentially have to regain those skill points?
Perhaps some old vets would disagree, but through all the past resets and respecs I doubt there is a single one that has never made corrections or changed their plan of action.

To help out all the new players i have to say i like the idea of a respec for them, but in the spirit of Eve i have to say hell no.
So as a compromise i think perhaps this could work if they increase the the time spent in academy, and offered a respec at the completion.
The other side of that coin is... this is EXACTLY what militia gear is for. so you can test out different fits and weapons. But the new player experience can be brutal.
Example (in eve). i started back in 2005 (have been playing since) and i spent my first 2 months training learning skills and fitting skills. god was that boring, then i started training for mining barges because i thought that may be what i liked. Turns out PVP was my thing and my next 100m SP went into almost purely pvp skills. but before i made that choice, i had spent about 3 months training skills that i never really touched again. I felt like it was a monstrous waste of time, so much so that i ended up quitting for a couple months before coming back. it was months wasted on stuff i would never use again. But Eve doesnt give SP resets
what im getting at with my story is, coming from eve im familiar with skill plans etc. players new to the eve universe may be turned off by this.
TL;DR To keep new player retention, increase time spent in academy and offer a respec upon completion. |

Problem is there is a ton of gear in Dust that does not have a milita variant.

True dat. True dat. But rather then relying on them to actually grind out that long to get the better suits, just make it so that newbies don't graduate from the battle academy until they hit 5M SP. Or something like that.
There could even be tiers. Where people graduate from a 2M bracket, to a 5M bracket, to a 10M bracket. This way people with the same access to gear will have..... the same gear. lol. Sure you'll have try hard alts rampaging through. But I'd rather have one try hard alt then an entire team of tryhard mains.

I don't think i would say "tons" but there are a number of items that need militia variants so that misplaced SP isn't a problem. There are currently 8/15 weapons that have militia versions. just over 50%. But seeing as how this is a FPS all weapons sorely need militia variants. However it does seem that all the other modules have militia variants.
please correct me if im wrong. i took a quick glance at the market and it seems the militia issue is pretty much confined to weapons. |

If players can't invest 16-20k SP into getting level one in the specialty weapons they can deal with it. Noobification of DUST has to stop. it didn't make me better in chromosome and it magically won't make bad players good. |
