Bright blue flash in close quarters situations is very disorienting when reflecting off the grey wall.
Terrible against shielding but its supposed to be.
Quite good against armor.
Needs a touch more range to actually stand out as a long range weapon but thats an opinion.

Cons: spool up time can make firing from cover slightly awkward. Recoil is noticeable, and can make sniping from a distance difficult. Low clip count, not the fastest at reloading either. Low bullet velocity compared to other rifles. You will need to lead your shots, makes a modicum of skill to do so. Skilled players can zig-zag around your fire.
Pros: hits like a brick that has been welded to another, bigger, meaner brick. Optimal range and damage application makes the scrambler rifle cry sad, sad tears. Tier scaling on RR is insane. Advanced feels like proto. Proto feels like officer. Officer will probably feel like the wrath of God himself. Much better in CQC than it has any right to be. It' looks like it's from the Future, where the Future is awesome and shiny.

The con is that it has a smaller clip than a hmg, and less range than a large railgun. |

It's not really "terrible" against shields, but it does seem to chew through armor with an ease that suggests more than +10%.

1) No. Just no. Some weapons, such as the Plasma Cannon, Shotgun, or ScP have small mag sizes, but the Rail Rifles magazine is not small. 2) Actually, it is the fastest at reloading and is tied with the ScR for that title with a 2.0 second reload. 3) Hitscan. There is no bullet travel speed in Dust for any of the rifles.

Needs a touch more range to actually stand out as a long range weapon but thats an opinion. Needs more range!?!?!? Are you f*cking kidding me? When you run a scout suit the rifle types dont show much difference in their stats. Yes these rifles have more range and the dps varies in the longer runs (aka the medium suits and larger heavies) but when you factor low hp to rate of fire and damage it just seems like im consistently outranged. Though yes I am aware I have much less armor than that of other suits. I suppose you have a point but at the same time I would like to see the rifles stand out more in their own categories. Its a back and forth when your in a scout though...I trade less screen clutter (you have been scanned!) for more frustration and less combat lifespan.

At it's Rof you can kill any standard to advanced suit within the first 9-10 ahots using a standard RR, you can kill any scout(save 600 hp galscout, who isn't a scout) Within 2-4 shots max, and it's unbelievably accurate meaning people even slightly competent in controller aiming can counteract it and besides, only 2-4 shots need to hit anyways, right?

Pros: Long range, decent rate of fire, very good damage (a little OP if you ask me), fast reload speed. Cons: Bad clip size, low ammo, slow scope/zoom-in movement, glitch/hack that takes out your ammo/doesn't do damage to enemy. Overall, it's good for me. It's like having a mini Blaster Installation in your hands.

Pros: hits hard
Both a con and pro depending on the situation is the blue light that flashes when you're shooting the gun. It lets your enemy know you're using a RR as well as helps you find enemy RR users.
I think it's:
ScR -- golden yellow AR -- yellow CR -- orangey yellow RR -- blue
I think the colors are right, someone can let me know whatever is wrong |

Pro: If you catch someone in the open you will melt them
Con: In CQC areas with lots of cover, a smart opponent will easily be able to take advantage of your .25 second charge time by popping in and out of cover, picking away at you while you are unable to return fire.

Dat spool up time
its what i use to kill RR users with my combat rifle.
keep in mind that this + your clip size is the weakness, as you have two choices risk having to re-spool or drain your mag and risk getting cought on a reload.

Rail rifle is like pre-nerf Assault rifle 2.0. It has to much ammo (an equivalent breach AR had less DPS, less range, AND less ammo), to much range, it out classes every gun at any range, and it's drawbacks are like a drop in a lake. It's just way to good at everything, more than it should be.
It's DPS should definitely be lowered so it's not so good at CQC, and the range of other guns increased slightly and decrease their DPS as their range increases. Long range weapons should not have high DPS, I can't stress this enough, when a long range weapon has the same DPS as a short range weapon then the long range weapon will always be better period. |
