So rails are currently the most powerful large turret in the game and can 3-4 shot pretty much any tank now why do you have to sit way up in a hill in the redline. You use the most powerful tank destroyer which is completely broken and OP and you sit behind a redline because you don't have the skills to 1v1 tanks where they can have an opportunity of killing you.

let me just say before i comment. I only use proto rail on my gunny now, BUT only for my own protection, i dont redline snipe, i actually roll around just like the blaster tanks do (which is actually MORE deadly than sitting on a hill). i think redline sniping makes you look sooo scared and a big pxxxsy. i say grow a pair and put some miles on your tanks. while your up on your hill, im killing tanks weaving in and out of buildings and citys. kinda sad they miss out on the action.

This has been an issue since I was a new berry. I remember my first game; having no idea what I was doing I was wandering around then PEWPEWPEW rail tank from enemy redline owns my merc. Unfortunately it's something I believe CCP just wants us to deal with and work around. It's been going on for many months. Perhaps they haven't figured out a viable way to fix it yet, or perhaps they're ignoring it completely and working on actual gameplay and game mechanic issues. Your guess is as good as mine. |

No its because they are cowards too afraid to lose a milita tank to more skilled players. |

I don't tank anymore, but rails have really low rotation speed, so using the most possible distance grants the least possible angular velocity and it is therefore wise to stay far away from other tanks. Also, why should you move yourself into their blaster/missile range, when you can stay outside and still deal full damage. Finally, as tank destroyer you don't want to fight the enemy infantry, so stay away.
So, yes, it is still absolutely reasonable to stay far away.

So, yes, it is still absolutely reasonable to stay far away. My mind set isn't that you should hug my tank so that I can easily kill you but to use skill, like part of the skill of running missiles is that I have to kepp them at a distance I can hit them and they have great difficulty hitting me. Staying far away isn't the issue it is cowering in the redline where you can not be touched.

I don't see how redline railtankers do it. I would be bored to death back there for the whole match. With my tanker alt this is how most Domi/Skirmish matches go:
I drop from the MCC and imeediatly call in my Gunlogi From the redline I snipe all neutral and enemy turret installations I can. I then proceed to carefully roll OUT of the redline whist looking for other tanks and more installations I can hit. I keep checking for Jihad Jeeps sneaking up on me. I see if i can get a good spot I can barrage my hellfire upon the enemy infantry to help my team mates. If this fails and I can't get any more good shots with my rail tank, I get out and recall the tank. I wait a bit and call in my Blaster Madrugar and go in balls deep to be more of a help to my team.
I normally die.

My mind set is that one shouldn't cry and solve his problem. Redline tanks, invisible swarms, forge gunners on roofs, mass drivers on buildings, flaylock cqc monster .. and so many more. You can cry like O'Dell, Spk4r, Takahiro and all the others all day long here, only thing that will happen is CCP does more bullshit (see lolz tanks 1.7). Or you just play the game and kill those things.
You're welcome.

Are you talking as a rail tanker or one who has only went against them?

Assault dropships actually are between annoyance to danger to redline hilltop rail tanks. which is fine because rail tank is the biggest threat to dropship far away.

only time i understand redline sniping is when u are completely out numbered.
when it's 1 v 2 i normally use the redline, because honestly i'm not going to be stupid and drive out just to be flanked from behind.
but when equal numbers i run on the field. \o/
