CCP Saberwing & CCP Logibro;
I have thought long and hard about how to write this forum thread in hopes you would see it. I know you're looking on and I hope you find this posting to get across my points in a tactful manner. I hope this entices what you referred to as developer interaction.
First off, again...as before. Thank you very much for creating Dust 514 as a free to play game for all of us. Thank you for the hard work you put into the game and I personally apologize for the hatemongering little nitwits who trash you guys no matter what you do.
I used to really love this game and I still do to a certain extent...but that flame has really flickered out. However, as never ever playing an online game ever before Dust 514 I can honestly say I have had some great times with the friends I've made on this game. I thank all of you for the laughs and the cheering moments when we've come from behind and edged out a victory and the comms erupted with glee. Those were some cool moments you can't really get with single player.
When you came out with 1.7, it felt like everything was different. My weapons work differently, the aiming is different and it seems like no matter how much I shoot...the bullets barely hit the baddie I'm shooting at.
The tanks and assault dropships are an enormous problem right now. I'm sure you are aware of that. Its really sad to see tanks and dropships camping every single CRU or drop uplink and you're killed before the screen even loads that you have deployed.
That's only half your fault though, really. Its selfish players abusing the game as much as it is making superior infantry killing machines so easily accessible. That was a serious mistake, but I doubt any of you thought it would turn out this way.
Its just bad business in my opinion and I thought 2 months ago I would never ever let my boosters run out without renewing them and I would never not play Dust on a regular basis...but I was wrong. I let my boosters run out and I barely play for more than an hour or two a week. I dont't even try to get my weekly SP bonus anymore because its just useless. Almost all of my corp basically vanished and those who do stick around are constantly angry and nobody has any fun.
What was once an amazing time to be had with nearly 75 of us on Dust 514 has broken down into pretty much no fun at all with maybe 10 people who have stuck around.
I don't understand why AV was nerfed, particuarly the swarm launcher...especially because a militia tank can use the hardeners and recharge itself all the while turbo boosting nitrous blasting and driving almost faster than basic LAV's.
The combat and rail rifles are neat...but I feel like they are too easy to get. I barely play and with the vehicle respec, natural passive SP and the logging in bonus and maybe 100,000 SP from a few weeks of playing very seldomly...I've got level 5 rail rifle, level 1 proficiency, levels 3 in reload and ammo capacity.
From doing pretty much nothing....so now I have access to the Ishukone Assault Rail Rifle and I'll likely be getting killed by tanks with it on me and be in the poor house isk wish lol
But I think its really important that you create game modes such as infantry only. They would have to be on smaller maps so that the need for LAV's is null and void. I think it should have 3 tiers...militia infantry mode, advanced infantry mode and proto infantry mode.
That would be really fun for people...but I understand if the player base isn't there it would be hard to seque everyone into that...but I honestly think LOTS of people would play that and it would attract new players.
It would provide a place to have fun for academy graduates. It would also give the players control to move at their own pace. I think that would expand the player base and make this game a lot more fun.
I know you guys read the forums, I know you're aware of the issues...but for those of us who get restless...why can't we know what's going on? Perhaps with all the hatemongering and trash talking of you CCP types you don't feel like we deserve to know anything. I don't blame you there.
Or perhaps worried that as soon as you tell us anything, the haters will trash it all as much as they can. I understand your comment you made in a thread that not everyone has thick skin and hey...there are some of us who still have faith in you and your game. Its a great game....1.7 made it less great, by a large margain but I have faith it can be great again.
Oh and remote explosives disappear from null objectives on a pretty regular basis. I drop them, sit and watch and within a minute or three they vanish without a single soul being anywhere near them. I get killed a lot watching the glitch but its frustrating to lose a match when I could have stopped the NULL's from getting hacked but the remote glitch made my plans go haywire.
That's all...Happy New Year. |

I'm sure your post has been read and it provides them with good feedback from the player perspective but I don't know how they would respond other than to say thank you for your feedback. Generally, they respond here on major issues once a fix has been created or to ask for more detail.
Let me reiterate some of the answers we've already received on a few of your points so you at least have something:
There is a new executive producer in charge and we're just now seeing the results of his efforts. The CPM seems to like him and his methods which is really good news. However, it takes time to turn a ship the size of DUST so patience is needed.
The new player experience is in bad shape. They know it and fixing it is definitely on their list of things to do. This will probably involve PvE and we have no idea how close that is to being ready. They won't say anything more specific about it until it is close.
Uprising 1.7 was a major change and 1.8 will be just as dramatic. It was necessary to tear things down for the future health of the game and to build them back up. They are analyzing the results of their changes and the first to be changed again are militia tanks. From one player to another you really should take the time to adapt to the changes and you may find something that you enjoy again.
The AV nerf was harsh compared to the new disposable tanks but I haven't seen any official feedback about it. Maybe it'll be changed again with the upcoming infantry changes.
As an assault dropship pilot I find it interesting that you think dropships are too powerful. The assault model is probably the most expensive vehicle on the field, certainly the most fragile and earns the least war points. We get shot down by forge guns, missile turrets and redline rail tanks far too easily.
From one player to another: thanks for writing up the feedback!

My problem with the dropships is the fact that they hover directly over null cannon objectives and just sit there and shoot. They hover directly over CRU's and blast away so you're dead before your screen even loads up.
I understand wanting to win, but to me that's using a loophole in the game design to cheat. Pre 1.7 I never saw that....post 1.7 I see it nearly every single match.
I think dropships are cool....I think tanks are cool, I just think being unable to deal with them is not cool. In an Ambush match...2 minutes in, the score shouldn't be blue team 15 clones, orange team 47 clones (out of 50) because there is a tank and dropship on the field. |

After having experimented with the REs a bit more this week I have to say the glitch seems to be fixed. I had a great time taking tanks out with them too including an Aurum tank that decided I probably wasn't going to hurt him. You really should get on for a bit more and if your corp is a problem because of bad attitude and lack of players, I suggest looking elsewhere as I myself did.

Hey, not to be rude...but in my experience (this is just my experience) all the players labeled "DJINN" are cocky, cheating, petty players. They camp the CRU's in dropships and tanks and sit up in the redline and hover NULL objectives and then talk a lot of trash to you about how you can't hang and you suck and go back to COD if you don't like it and blah blah blah
One of you even told me once upon a time that I could suck it because with his modded controller I'll never kill him and I should just sell my playstation 3 before it gets embarassing
So I'm sorry if you're not one of those guys, but based on the track record of all your brothers DJINN, I just can't take you seriously. |
