Rearrange maps so that the area behind the redline and the rest of the map are not visible to one another.
Both map features (e.g. less 'bowl'-shaped battlefields) and the space for the redline (e.g. creating a redline salient behind hills) could be used to achieve this.
The intended effect is to reduce or eliminate both redline farming and sniping by creating a true safe zone, but one that cannot be useful for participation in battle. Furthermore, it will be easier to regulate afk and camping behavior, since any players in their own safe zone for an extended period are legitimately not capable of contributing to battle.
I'm pretty sure I suggested this months and months ago, but I don't see it suggested as much as punitive measures. This, I think, would be a more elegant solution. |

it may create a true safe zone from your perspective but im not sure this is the best solution.
especially when it comes to our common match where your entire team gets redlined. how will u fight back then.
ppl would either sit and hide in this safe zone... or run out only to be gunned down by the entire enemy team.
now if we could replace the redzone with an easily defendable position. and make it to where its possible to capture but would be so hard it wouldnt even be worth trying in full proto.
what i have in mind for it is always being added too im just trying to put it out in words but its too complex to describe. in short i want a base. a good base. that can be defended with ease. i also want it to be possible to take this base from the enemy. but it would be extremely difficult and hard to do. this base i want this base to have some elevated platforms with maybe some extremely durable turret installations. maybe a large functional door as well and places for vehicles to spawn in and get out. along with smaller doors as well..
areas where ppl can attack from. and defend with some decent cover. this base would be safe to call our vehicles down and spawn in on. it would be easy to control and keep hold. even for a bunch of unorganized noobs. unless they all decided to run off.. there would be turrets around in good spots that would target any enemies that get within range. if destroyed they respawn after a certain period of time.
i think with what i stated might be better..and alot more usefull. as it kills off redzone camping and snipers as they wont be able to snipe "safely" in their usual spots. and if a team does manage to take the base they wouldnt be able to defend it for long. |

I definitely could see the redline being replaced with some manner of a fortress. I like the idea, CLONE.
The issue, is as you said, that the redline is a fallback position to allow your team to regroup.
Redline sniping is an issue of poor map design for snipers. Right now, the best sniper positions are behind the redline on most maps. There are a few maps which contain good sniper positions in the main field of play, and on those, you see little to no redline sniping.

I think we're imagining the same thing.
The basic point I'm trying to make is that the redzone should:
1) be a place where players can spawn without being shot at in <5 seconds. 2) be a place where players can't have an impact on the entire rest of the map. |
