obviously we can't support more then 32 players in a single game of dust at a time, that's the given.
The devs try to tie the game together via things like PC and FW.
when released each and every one of these concepts are highly looked forward to then fall short when at the end of the day consequence is not felt.
you win an fw match nothing changes, you win a pc match a little bit of a district change then that's it, theirs little profit to be had in both, and even less difference when it comes to the gameplay itself.
faceless planets, repeated maps, no purpose and no consequence, which is the killer to this game.
we need to take the lobby out of this lobby shooter so to speak, bring consequence and reason into playing it.
here's my suggestion - story tie in's - first I will suggestion a story line and a reward. the caldari prime is currently attempting to develop a new ground vehicle, a T-2 hav the will surpass the madrugar and give them ground superiority in the coming months, a gallente based faction has decided to steal the plans and claim them as their own, and will pay well for anyone that decides to support them.
so now we have a story line, next we open up a PC planet where the tanks are being developed and produced, players can attack the districts freely based on 15-30 minute timers, with the big production faculty being on a 1 hour timer. each district will gain boons for the people controlling, from more clones, to free tanks.
once the planet is under one sides full control the planet closes the story line ends, and new toys are released to the public with modified stats to match the story.
the tank will either be a gallente or caldari vehicle now, obviously this can't be done all the time due to new content being released by it, but the process could be repeated with lesser purpose and rewards, i.e maybe they are just fighting over who controls the planet, and are offering 25 million isk to anyone that helps them win. the point is to add purpose and reward.
pub matches are a tough one to fix, theirs no meaning behind randomly generated matches, matchmaking becomes an issue as well and thus why I honestly think they should be removed.
remove the pub match all together and replace them with a system where players pick planets and battles to fight over. let them look at the available contracts, judge the rewards, and decide what they want to fight over. higher rewards means better players, lower rewards should mean lower tiered players.
don't fix pub matches, create a system that is better then pub matches.
when the pub matches start to fill up, have the system automatically generate a few more contracts with isk rewards and gear rewards if you win, by allowing the user to pick his fight, it will start to feel less random and more meaningful, and giving purpose to winning will make it feel like you are fighting for something.
