When playing with or against 'Higher tier' corps, I experience more lag than when I play with or against newberries.
I'm not blaming the corps, but perhaps the lag in PC, and rarely in other gamemodes has to do with SP?
In PC, you've got 32 Players, all sure to have over 10-15mil SP, with SP in different skills to suit there roles, maybe this is putting more pressure on the game since it has to do all the math for the Passive Bonuses?
I wonder if you got 32 fresh new characters (Alts with 500k SP, and 0 SP invested into all skills), and got them to go up against each other in PC, would there be any lag?
Just a thought.
DUST is so broken, even my PS3 refuses to let me play it.

Those corps spam equipment. That is what makes the lag. New players cant equipment spam.

Even without equipment spam, PC has a terrible framerate.
Even in matches where they aren't equipment spamming, I get a bit of an FPS drop compared to other matches, I'm not saying that they're deliberately doing it, but maybe its just the fact that they have a large amount of passive bonuses.

I'm really surprised people don't realize that this is a tactic employed by the corps that own most of PC. Hell, it's made it's way into FW.

Again, I've been in PC Matches where there isn't any equipment spam, and there has still been horrible lag.
Of course, equipment spam doesn't help at all, but it cant be the thing thats causing the lag.

Equipment spam is probably the main culprit in 9/10 cases - BUT, Knight is probably right about SP and skills causing issues. (they do in EVE, seems logical that they would also cause a bit of lag in Dust)
EDIT: It is also worth noting that PC matches are more likely to have higher latency due to some players playing on the 'wrong' battle server, and until CCP does something silly like declare that only American based players can fight over certain districts etc. that's not going to go away. |

Your PS3 is capable of doing thousands of calculations a second, the passive skill bonuses will barely use any draw. PC terrible frame rate is down to something else, probably rendering the match on which it takes place, even if no eve ships are watching.

It's probably the amount of equipment used. New berries don't exactly use proper uplinks nano-hives REs and such. But proper crew has all of proto or adv tier equipments deployed at all proper location/objectives/corners... Plus all the top tier suits and weapons and the rate people do pew pew |

Everyone has Mic's at that level.
Everyone uses their equipment.
Usually people actually RETURN FIRE before they die.
More Vehicles..
Just more DUST, the mroe you get into the game the more you utlize the tools CCP has provided.
Its why no matter what fancy equipment, Suits, Vehicles.. Computer program settings for aiming... The 3 month old player will never compete directly against a 2 year old DUST vet.
Server strengths and resources need to scale aswell as matches... If we could team deploy full squads of PC ready corps into ambush all day and practice... These up and comming corps could practice tactics and teamwork and strategy all day with only the cost of their individual losses to cover.
But throwing 10, 3 month old players in there will always be asshat'ery to both the aspiring competitive mercenary and or the 3 month old player.(If new player is being carried its always a different story.) |
