Thing is, the whole New Eden RP community isn't really the most friendly one. There's often been jokes about how New Eden RP is based solely on the fact that everyone hates each other, which is surprisingly accurate. Insults are often thrown around, hostility is always present and everyone is just bickering to each other. Then there's the fact that most people who enter into the Intergalactic Summit are completely new to the roleplaying scene, and can sometimes have difficulties separating the IC from the OOC, which has been a problem in all kinds of RP communities since the dawn of LARPs. An insult to the character is taken personally, which then spirals down into a vicious circle of insults and hostility, until either party gives up. Don't even get me started on the strict interpretation of the lore that is mandatory for New Eden RP.
It is often said that DUST 514 and EVE Online are niche games, the RP community within them is even more niche, just from its hostility and strictness.

EVE pilots pay a monthly fee in the PLEX they have to purchase, making them CCP's main source of income. As such, you need an ACTIVE account to post on their forums. If you want your voice heard then you need to pay the month pilot's license fee. (I could be wrong about that, but the fact still stands that pilots pay for their forum use and we don't.)
Mercenaries on the other hand don't need to pay a monthly fee for use, so we really aren't entitled to sharing the same benefits as Capsuleers, including the use of their forum. The biggest work around if you are bound and determined to RP with capsuleers as a mercenary is to get in contact on the NeoComm channel for the capsuleer IGS. I try to keep semi-active on that and really have been trying to show that the DUST community has a least SOME competent RP talent lined up, and they have all been really accepting. Capsuleer roleplayers are still a little weary around dusters, but most of them accept you gladly as long as you know what you're doing and don't come off as a complete idiot(and honestly, some of the guys in our IGS are complete idiots). If you start spouting about something that breaks the canon, you get called out on it, and if you insist you'll get laughed out of the channel. Having a thick skin is also pretty much necessary when you visit the RP channels, they can be quite brutal and hateful at times. Also, if anyone is ever interested in joining some RP channels, join The Summit or Intergalactic Summit channels in-game.

Imagine for a moment that you've been playing EVE online for years, paying per month, building up massive RP corporations and making a name for yourself... And now all of a sudden you have to share a forum with some preteen punk who doesn't even pay for his membership and hasn't read any of the lore.
You think the RP community is hostile now? Imagine then. Yeah, the first thing that would happen is a clash of conflicting ideas and massive flamewars. But I'd like to hope that eventually things would even out, if the forums are ever going to be merged.
