I had an idea for a new type of missile turret: Electromagnetic (EM). EM missiles exist in EVE currently (mjolnir class missiles) and I think they can have a role here in Dust as a anti-shield tank/anti-equipment/ and infantry support tank.
Stats for the Mjolnir EM Missile Turret:
Damage: 420-450/ missile (+20% to shield, -20% to armor direct damage only) 3-4m splash @ 120-150 damage/ shot (FLUX DAMAGE ONLY, meaning only shields and equipment are effected) 12rnd/ magazine 10 sec reload 200-250m range
The lower damage is to account for the lower ehp shield tanks have. Armor is only effected if the missile makes a direct impact, splash damage is just like a flux grenade, only harming shields and equipment, thus keeping it's relatively large splash area balanced. This allows the Mjolnir tank to engage shield vehicles (since getting direct hits is easier on larger targets) while also providing a balanced infantry support role.
The large splash is to allow the turret to more easily take out equipment and hit groups of encamped enemies to weaken their shields without utterly obliterating them (leaving that job to the tanks teammates). Another balancing factor is the small clip and long reload time.
Things that keep this turret balanced are armor tanks, reliance on infantry to utilize the EMP volley, and difficulty of doing much direct damage to the enemy.
This new turret will provide a new check to shield vehicles, as provide tanks with a more supporting role, and introduce more diverse vehicle squad.

I think once we get ammo types to choose from, we will be able to choose which damage type of missile we would like to load.
I'm hoping that it's done like in EVE. We get a set amount of ammo space and we choose however many of each ammo type we want. Be it 100% kinetic or have an equal distribution of each damage type. Switching ammo type will require a reload.

Shield-only damage is a terrible idea and it needs to go.
Why do I say this? Because in a game like Dust 514, it's terribly, terribly unbalanced. That's why.
What's the difference between an immobile Minmatar ship and a pile of garbage?
The pile of garbage is more lethal.

Direct impact does armor damage (-20%), but the splash does Flux-like damage over a larger area than explosive missiles.
