you can't really call any gun OP, when the HMG can deal over 1000 damage before you can blink.

i don't think that the HMG is OP, but i do think that if a gun that powerful is not OP, then none of the guns are. you may disagree wih me, if so, feel free to argue why, but think about it. how often do you turn a corner into a rail rifle and die before you can blink, no matter how tanky your suit is?

this is why until i see a good counter argument to this (not just some insult or pointless one line comment), i'm done comlaining that ANY of the guns, even the Assault RR are OP.

i had this epiphone today when an HMG delt 1060 damage before i could turn.

HMG's are exclusive to heavy suits
Heavy suits don't regen very fast
I can see a plan brewing there

Also if your playing skirmish they can't redeploy very fast. Take other objectives and when they try to cross the open ground get them at range

I disagree with your assessment because the HMG can only apply that damage over a relatively small range. Past that it becomes much more survivable and longer range, lower DPS weapons start to win.

It's simply a case of a weapon trading range for damage - as a CQC weapon, that is how it goes.

I can see soooooo many ways to abuse that.

Matter of a fact is, I still haven't got a chance to die to an HMG since the buff.

Like seriously, put as many damage mods as you like, as much proficiency as you want, you would get at best 650~ DPS.
 That's with a duvolle.

Simple, DPS is a poor comparator when used in isolation. HMG has more significant tradeoffs in order to attain that DPS:
 - Only viable at short range
 - Can only be used on a heavy suit

RR has none of those. It works reasonably well in CQC, which honestly is counter to it's design, and obviously outclasses every other weapon at range. RR in CQC >> HMG at even medium range.

BTW, I don't necessarily think the RR is OP compared to the other 3 major rifles other than it's much more effective than it should be in CQC; the AR should beat it hands down at short/med range and doesn't. All 4 rifles are OP compared to just about everything else, that's the only significant problem with them. (For reference, I mostly use the standard CR)

If all weapons are OP...or at least the primary weapons for the majority of players, then none are OP. It is hard from me to understand when a single weapon is called out for this.

The AR, SCR, Core Locus, and MD didn't suddenly get nerfed with 1.7, things just evened out with the other rifles since there were other viable options. Check the kill feeds....lots of GEKs and Duvolles starting to show up again. It wouldn't surprise me if the MD starts to make a come back.

One thing for all the forum warriors out there: a top level player will make any weapon seem OP. For most of us, me included, the strengths and weaknesses of the different weapons matter quite a bit.

I think all of the guns are OP. TTK is too short.
Especially the Plasma Rifle, Scrambler Rifle, Combat Rifle and Rail Rifle. Those 4 weapons make these weapons absolete:

 1) Shotgun
 2) Plasma Cannon
 3) Laser Rifle
 4) Mass Driver
 5) Nova Knives (you could say "but those are sidearms!", but they are not used as sidearms so I consider them to be primary weapons)

As far as I am concerned, it is easier to nerf 4 OP weapons than it is to buff 5 "UP" ones. Nerfing those four weapons would also have the nice side affect of increasing TTK.

I don't lose the cross hair with the new rifles as easily as I do with the AR, so I am inherently better with them. I am still just as wildly inconsistent with them as Ar's. Some matches I am dead on others I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. In the right hands any of them can seem OP, if your going to do anything maybe reduce damage across the board for all of them. That or just buff health in general. Whatever it is don't make peoples invested SP useless.

Nothing is really op to be fair. Everything can be used in ways that just tip the balance heavily in the users favor. When tactics are employed and the spreadsheets fly off the table it is really anyones game. You should know this plenty that even the scrambler pistol can drop multiple targets in the blink of an eye when in the hands of an expert.

I'm just bringing up points. You can make them out to be whatever.

HMG's range is restricted along with other capabilities that makes it less versatile than the rifles. It deserves to do a massive amount of damage in CQC, especially since that's what it's made for.

The true adversaries of a HMG user is speed and range. If you're fast enough, you can dominate a heavy but you're still vulnerable however if you're still viable while being out of their optimal range(aka having a range advantage), you will usually win.

As a Gallente, if I turn the corner into a Rail Rifle's sights, I'd die in 5 seconds or less. I would literally need a proper snap reflex to survive. If it was a Combat Rifle's sights it would be just the same maybe a second less and, mind you, the Combat Rifle's optimal range means that they could easily be right around the corner behind me, even outpacing me in the common fit. Scrambler is a one shot depending on the specs of the fittings, and ARs vary although their speed and ammo makes them capable of sustaining domination of a PVP for a long time. And then there's the HMG which is built to demolish all other players in CQC. The best weapon to use against a HMG is the Combat Rifle thanks to it's speed and ability to melt through armor.

I really can't tell if the TTK is too low right about now because I'm so used to it now. If they raise it by only a few seconds then sure, but an extra 10 seconds is overkill in my opinion.
