If this had been my first experience in Dust, I'd have quit immediately. In my first match outside of the Academy (which I left after a single match of over 1900 WP) I faced not one, but TWO full prototype squads. The remaining blueberries all had at least advanced gear. There were no less than three tanks running around at any one time, and I died a total of 16 times with 8 kills. I thought this was supposed to be an academy match, no less. It still said "Battle Academy" in the window when I selected public match. My team had no AV, no ACCESS to AV, nothing other than militia started suits and no f***ing idea that we had to take null cannons (or even what the f*** null cannons ARE, come to find out) to destroy the enemy MCC to win the match. They all didn't know what an MCC was. Or what AV is.
That was horrible. It actually almost convinced me to give up on the idea of an alt. |

Ha, I faced lasers on Manus Peak without tutorials and Academy. Heavies that were like Jason Voorhees; they just kept coming and wouldn't die.
If they stick it out, the reward feels greater and the sense of accomplishment cannot be ignored. Plus its great to have players realize the harshness of New Eden early on.
But I do feel that the tutorial used to guide players on how to build a fit should transition into their first objective academy match so that they get a sense of things.

I hear you. CCP are working on a PvE tutorial right now with utmost urgency, anything in between is a stop-gap solution and until then new players making the transition from "academy" to the proper matches will be few and far between. They are paying the price for not integrating this from the beginning. |

You should guys should really follow the CPM posts more. IWS had an IRc hangout where they were discussing the new tutorial missions.
Right now they are designing the new player racial offices which will link on from the tutorials.

Easiest way to roll an alt is grab a cal suit and grab a AR. Both require little to no skills to be a decent suit.
Get enhanced shield extenders, Get basic armour plates, get a GEK and your good to go.

lololololol i remembered when i tried an ALT coz i was curious about how new players experience dust.
to sum it up short, i've seen blueberries shoot at turrets with the AR and i went 30-0 coz i was on the turret hahaha
man i feel sorry for those new players, academy doesnt even tell you what to do, pretty much just trial by fire for new players.
YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED!!!
