CCP, is the Ishukone Assault SMG a placeholder for the Magsec SMG, like the AR variants were for the other race's main rifles? That's the only reason I can think of that Ishukone, a Caldari Corporation, would have their own variant of the SMG, a Minmatar weapon. No other weapon in the game has a variant made by a foreign corporation.
And no, there's no mention in the description as to why this anomaly exists. In fact, the description says "This original design is a paradigm of Minmatar construction," which is different than saying "the original design was a paradigm of Minmatar construction," which would at least reinforce that it's a foreign variant. Instead, however, it reinforces that it's a Minmatar made weapon.
What up, CCP?

I thought that the Caldari magsec SMG would be a breach SMG?

Someone said the Ishukone Assault SMG was commissioned by one of the leaders of Ishukone because of the friendship he had with the Minmatar people. He also (secretly) gave them the cure for a disease as well.
Going by how Caldari weaponry usually behaves, the Magsec will be more similar to the Breach SMG than the Assault SMG.

Edit: Reav's link was what I was thinking of.
Still not really a satisfying answer, but that's how it is. Have the Amarrian's never wondered why Ishukone produces Minmatar weaponry? I get that business is business and all the nations trade with each other to some degree, but your ally producing your enemy's weapons seems like it would draw a fair amount of suspicion.
You mean in the same way that there are all types of racial corp stations in every region?
Corps are separate from the government factions. It's for the sake of game play.

Well that explains why this thread didn't come up in my search. The phrase "Ishukone Assault SMG" isn't anywhere in that thread.
Thanks for the link, though. +1

Allotek, a Gallente company, made it's own version of the nanohive, Caldari equipment.
Don't question this stuff lawl.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

Yes business is business. For example a German company sold the american government a type of additive for aircraft fuel to make it more efficient so they could cross the Atlantic ocean during ww2. I'm not sure if kerosene was used back then? Meh.
Business has no moral ground.

Minmatar and Gallente fw.
I sold my wife and kids to the Amarr for isk, its a valid tactic.

I would be pretty keen to have the MagSec SMG myself...would complete my Caldari ensemble.
Seriously, I've actually asked the same question reference the Ishkone SMG before; consensus among players that responded was that it would likely be more along the lines of the current breach SMG (not wild about that but fits lore wise).
Interesting note...If the MagSec comes out with a base model and a variant I suspect it will have a Kaalikiote SMG (Breach) and Ishakone Assault variant. Ishakone produces the Assault RR and Assault SMG...would be a pretty easy leap to see them in the MagSec business as well.
