I occasionally run small blasters. Standard shred enemies that stay still or move slowly provided there isn't a lot of lag and provide a seat. Also, Gunnlogi's have no problems supporting 3 turrets and 3 ADV shield modules if you use CPU/PG expansions. You can usually fit extra ammo or something as well. Madrugars are screwed, though.

I simple do not have enough SP to support any small turrets.
To fit a small turret I will have to lose significant functionality because the current tanks do have enough slots, CPU and occasionally PG. It is possible to improve the situation once the main tank is nearly full prototype for the main turret and its modules. Then even more SP will be needed.
A small turret on its own cost:
small turret operation level 5 = 621,840SP -> this is mostly for missile turrets but the price will have to be paid. small blaster turret operation level 5 = 621,840SP -> this is needed to be able to access proficiency. small blaster turret proficiency level 3 = 342,000SP -> 10% turret speed improvement per level.
subtotal = 1.585.680 SP to partially support ONE small turret type. More will be needed to support it adequately and at least two turret types are needed. I have yet to use the new small rail gun turrets but I have heard them, they fire faster yet I don't know if they are effective. I would be unwilling to spend precious SP on them until a more definitive answer is clear.
Note that without some proficiency the turrets are too slow to use effectively, IMHO, causing the tank to line up the shot for the front turret as well as the main turret. Not a combat ready solution.
So, please take notice if there is a turret on the top of the tank or at the front. If there isn't than jumping on it or shooting at my tank will not enable you to get a ride. Regardless of whether I want you in my tank or not. When they see there's no O button to press, they jump on top of your tank. Dunno what they're trying to accomplish. Trying to catch a ride. Redberries also do this to make it impossible to shoot them. I had one guy hop on top and place several REs on my roof. I nitro'd over a hill and he didn't fall off. Today, I managed to get on top of a friendly tank with my tank and he drove around carrying my tank on top for several seconds. Good stuff.
