Infantry and tanking is always isk positive, even when it was pre 1.7. Like I said rail guns and forges should be balanced against dropships and swarms should be balanced against tanks. There's only a 272 sp difference from me 1 shotting their asses them like they do us. It'll be worth it. |

Slow down tanks, and slow down swarms, or give dropships passive swarm countermeasures, and you have a deal. Swarms are actually okay against dropships so long as we can survive 2 volleys which wasn't that hard to do. For the most part swarms function as area denial and give Infantry the tools to put up a fight against us without either side being raped. |

If you were a smarter pilot railguns would rarely kill you, and you'd also know that sometimes you gotta land or go somewhere/do something else, in my case when a rail tank starts to annoy me I pull out my own and 2 shot the silly nub. But I must say im also guilty of pulling a rail on another pilot because 2 ADS fighting these days is like watching to eastern european grannys in a hand bag fight, pointless engagement i'd rather shoot something that will die before the end of the match. I'm willing to tag along in a squad so you can show me how it's done. I would very much like to know how to rarely get killed by railguns. |

Just like if your driving a blaster tank and your squad mates tell you a rail tank just set up on a hill across the field from you, you don't go waltzing out there with your hardeners down.
Okay how about this, you mail me an effective counter to railguns and forges and if it' is indeed an effective strategy I will buy 2 $20 psn cards and give you the codes. Deal? |

Happy Violentime wrote:Are dropships broken? i keep seeing ADS with almost continuos hardeners going. Uusually going 25/0 in games. Bad pilots have gotta blame something other than their lack of skill i s'pose I lack the SP to fit 2 hardeners on atm. I'm 1.4 million away from having armor, shield and turrets to level 5 and then I can get working extenending the active module durations and recharge rate + fitting optimizations.
I like your other post though. |

Okay how about this, you mail me an effective counter to railguns and forges and if it' is indeed an effective strategy I will buy 2 $20 psn cards and give you the codes, if not you get 1. Deal? Think about what you are trying to do and where to do it. Are you trying to land and dropoff troops? Fly in low from an area blocked by buildings or terrain. Don't hover above buildings. Don't fly in at a medium height where you show up to rails and don't fly laterally so that you can be led. Fly up high on sides of map then get over an area and dive down fast. Watch some videos of hueys in Vietnam. You don't see them being stupid with artillery fire overhead. Low, slow and covered. Either be high to ceiling or low to ground. ADS does not mean you should rain down hell with impunity. Have to choose your location. If rails are in that battle than that's the battle. If not then it's your battle. Just because you want to field something doesn't mean every battle should be for that. What happened to all this team effort thing? Hook up with a rail tanker that can cover fire on the other rail for you. I'd like to see that team effort. Might make me play solo less. I'll even rail tank for you if you do the same for me too.
Now that's helpful. I try to look at the map like the center is a no fly zone (tower forgers got me into that habit). Scan/clear the perimeter and work my way in, only landing so that my backs facing my side and I'm facing cover to drop uplinks at the start of the match or to pick up my squad. Other than that I do redline border patrol and try to clear installations starting from there side working to mine. If I come across a few reds I'll drop them but wont spend more than a clip trying to deal with them as I don't like to stay in one area.
My targeting priorities are dropships (collision damage is still insane on dropships), tanks, installations, objectives the teams hacking and infantry in that order. I'm not perfect and I make mistakes from time to time but I try to improve and as I gain SP everything is getting easier. Anyways that's how I try to play.
And I'd be glad to squad up. |
