just a public servace announcement to continue spreading the word that these little presents of explosive doom work better then ever at destroying would be tankers.
i dont give a crap what your opinion on current tank balance is, while you wait for whatever result your hoping for from CCP, spend a small amount of SP into these little things and grab some friends.
with em you can hold off tanks at city gates, place traps along escape routes, sneak up behind them and shove em up their ass.
but aside from a well skilled railtank this is the best method of complete tank annihilation there is.
a squad all with 2 levels in demos can place 6-12 tank traps.
a single fully skilled demolitions expert can place 3-8 traps on his own.

in fac war you can add remotes to your minefields and they will detonate with the proxes :P
if you buy the republic remotes you can have
15+ 12 + 12 explosives to make minefields with..... juse use the proxes as the detonators

I've created special Logi AT fits for this purpose. Never skilled much into Swarm launcher, so what I have is pretty useless now. Proxiy mines, RE's, and AV grenades are what I carry instead. Just run up behind them stick on the RE's and if they don't blow it, toss an AV. Pretty effective so far.

Considering for the past 6 months LLAVs were the most spammed vehicle in a pub match and that proximity mines could not take them out because they ran over them too fast- and had the HP to survive 3 of them- seeing an AV weapon that can actually kill a vehicle is a small glimmer of hope for light and medium frames

hardeners are on? doesnt matter these things have INSANE alpha....
need help getting the most out of these things? ask away! Before I go any further, allow me to say that my method of killing tanks is to place 3 RE's on the rear of a tank, flux as many times as I can if it's a shield or once if it's an armor (I get my RE's on first, flux second so I can get the RE's on it without freaking it out and dashing off), set off the RE's, and try to lay into it with my swarms if it's still around. Now, let me tell you why this often DOESN'T work.
1. Any tanker worth his salt these days stays in 3rd person as often as possible so he can see you coming up behind him for this very reason.
2. At least half of the tanks I see (almost every armor tank) are running scanners meaning sneaking up on them is nigh impossible, and RE's/proxies are plainly visible to them.
3. A few tankers are smart enough to keep their top turret and have a squad mate stay in it to watch for enemy movement in the tankers blindspot. This is somewhat rare, but I've seen it several times over the last few days.
A few other points:
When dealing with 2 tanks working together (VERY common to see now), it is almost impossible to get to one without the other spotting you. This is also true of infantry, it is often suicide to try to get RE's on a tank simply because of infantry. It's easy to say "have the rest of your squad suppress the infantry", but with a tanker suppressing YOUR infantry and the enemy respawning every 10 seconds, that's FAAAAAAAR easier said than done.
As for baiting them into traps or dropping traps in general, enemy infantry spot them and shoot them all the time since almost every squad runs scanners and they don't want to accidentally get blown up by them (and, ya know, "free points"). And the infantry scans show them to tanks too, so even if a tank doesn't have scans, with as popular as scans are now any spot for trapping a tank is already getting scanned constantly by someone with a scanner looking for intel assist points or easy kills.
Lastly, a squad can drop 6-12 traps. IF they sacrifice ammo, injectors, scanners, and every other piece of equipment that helps keep your squad alive and going against infantry AND tanks.
My point in this is yes, it works occasionally. But there is no sure-fire, consistent means of killing off the tank spam short of having a tanker of your own in your squad. Let's say you run a 70,000isk AV fit (mine's MUCH more, but let's stick with just 70k to be conservative) and you all die 4 times a match running an AV squad (again, conservative estimates on deaths for an AV squad these days). 6 people sacrificing their K/D ratio, W/L ratio, WP count, and 280,000isk per player per game (that's 1,680,000isk combined btw) is not worth it to make 4 tankers go 30/1 instead of 35/0 on the other side and make them loose a grand total of 300,000isk combined.

remotes stick to the ground as well :P
and the level of play you describe is above and byond what pub matches provide :P so now your describing top level squad tactics in pub games :P the responce to that of course is your own top level squad tactics, wich WILL probably utilise a tank because not having a tank is generally a bad idea in top level play.
is it reliable at top level gameplay? not really, are the members of these forums capabale of top level gameplay? probably not.
me and my logi bro just wreaked havok with out militia/std swarms killing off a well fit well piloted 2 hardener maddy, a crappy gunnlogi pilot and an assault dropship :P granade spam works wonders if they get cocky and get close.
EVERY AV is situational, not solution will work 100% of the time. and since the "problem" is low skill militia tankers running wild in pub matches the tank traps work BEAUTIFULLY at removing them as threats.
and if your traps are easily seen your doing it wrong, the whole idea is to place them in such a way that they ARNT easily seen.
shoving REs on a tanks ass is a solution againsty amature tankers who are FOTM chasers and dont really know what they are doing. setting proper traps and ambushes works on even experianced tankers, ask around ive nabed a few good tankers with these tricks as well. |

how to instapop a tank in FW:
-grab 2 different sets of remote explosives and a prox mine -put 6 remote explosives down and put a single proxy mine on top -tank drives over prox mine and triggers with that the remote explosives due to a chain reaction which causes over 9000HP damage instantly which should kill any tank in the game with a single blow.
Does not work in regular pub matches cause blue explosives dont trigger your remotes.

Places tanks go - high traffic infantry areas & the roadways between them Best places to put tank traps - high traffic infantry areas & the roadways between them Places most often scanned by infantry and vehicles- High traffic infantry areas and the roadways between them
See the problem with this tactic overall?
I'm happy for you that you constantly run into nothing but **** teams in pub matches, but there are those of us who run into nothing but stacked proto matches in pubs filled with tryhards trying to stat-pad on newer players now that many of the better players left to go play FW (Nyian San is becoming infamous in Domination right now). The type of match doesn't matter, it's the people on the other side. I've posted so much on this in so many threads today I'm genuinely burned out on repeating myself.... but I'll settle for what I got:

EVERY AV is situational, not solution will work 100% of the time. and since the "problem" is low skill militia tankers running wild in pub matches the tank traps work BEAUTIFULLY at removing them as threats. and if your traps are easily seen your doing it wrong, the whole idea is to place them in such a way that they ARNT easily seen. shoving REs on a tanks ass is a solution againsty amature tankers who are FOTM chasers and dont really know what they are doing. setting proper traps and ambushes works on even experianced tankers, ask around ive nabed a few good tankers with these tricks as well. it does in fact work in pubs, and very reliably, it takes some practice however and knowing where to place teh traps are as important as placing the traps in the first place. Places tanks go - high traffic infantry areas & the roadways between them Best places to put tank traps - high traffic infantry areas & the roadways between them Places most often scanned by infantry and vehicles- High traffic infantry areas and the roadways between them See the problem with this tactic overall? I'm happy for you that you constantly run into nothing but **** teams in pub matches, but there are those of us who run into nothing but stacked proto matches in pubs filled with tryhards trying to stat-pad on newer players now that many of the better players left to go play FW (Nyian San is becoming infamous in Domination right now). The type of match doesn't matter, it's the people on the other side. I've posted so much on this in so many threads today I'm genuinely burned out on repeating myself.... but I'll settle for what I got: "EVERY AV is situational, not solution will work 100% of the time" Good enough..... I think I need a nap....
scanners dont show remotes/proxies......
also best place to put tank traps.... where the tanks go, not the infantry :P also places that are unobvious and hidden.... what you described is the exact oposite place you should be putting traps... if your traps are being found... find new places to put them...
the BEST spot is where the tanks retreat to... wich tends to be FAR away from infantry and they tend to be in a hurry when they go there :P
See the problem with you understanding of the tactic? the tactic works great, when you use it NOT as you are using it |

Fw Friendly fire has shown us that improvised explosives are one of the best tank killing methods in this build, now if only they worked outside friendly fire matches.
