I can understand that corpse essentially are decomposed by the Nanites within out blood eating us alive after death....but why do tank wrecks not remain on the battlefield after they are destroyed.

Personally I think it would add a unique dynamic to the battlefield if you could use the wreackage of freshly downed tanks as cover again the second and third tanks in the enemy pack, to take cover from enemy infantry behind flaming hulls.

Personally I would like the wreckage of vehicles to remain on the map post destruction. What does the rest of the community think?

A small group of nanohives on the ground create massive lag, imagine 10 tanks. I like the idea, but not anytime soon.

@OP: if frame rate wasn't an issue I would completely agree with you. You know what... +1 anyway!

Indeed.....however battlefields in dust are sterile and boring, half of what some games do really well, is create the atmosphere of war.....Dust lacks that atmosphere.

if dust 514 went to playstation 4 this sort of idea could be looked at along with using remote explosives to blow holes in walls to create new entrances and what not

but as it stands the playstation 3 isnt strong enough it will lag the servers out to much

In an ideal world with no lag or gameplay issues, corpses would litter the battlefield, and CCP would like it that way. The only reason things decay so quickly after being destroyed is because 1. the lag would be terrible otherwise, and 2. they might get in the way with no method of removing them.

Most FPS don't leave bodies behind. Only way I would think leaving bodies behind is a good thing is if CCP adds looting to corpses.

Compared to so many other games, this game looks like **** and still runs terribly.

After reading this, I can't help but remember this other spectacular idea I heard way back in the day about vehicle damage zones. You should totally read it, I think you'd fall in love. The OP was a guy named Bucktooth Badger in a corp named "Buck's Intergalactic Pawn Shop" lol. it was written in December of 2012, but it's still a spectacular idea. IF the game engine could handle it.... Maybe it Dust ever makes it to ps4....

If they made the tank models turn into an environment object and had a very simple model (for each racial tank) with a very simple collision mesh I don't think it would lag at all.

Not the first time I've come across this idea. It would be great to have them stay, but like others are saying it would cause Framerate issues. Someday True someday.
