Right. I've been seeing these threads for a long time, and I always knew there was a problem with the idea of nixing all war points for people within their own redline. What about the people who get spawn trapped? It's not fair for them to get their war points scrapped when they CAN'T get out of the red line. So...

That would discourage players from sitting behind a redline all game, but it would also discourage teams from pushing their opponents into the redline and farming them for kills. Both situations can still be tactically advantageous, but you would then need to weigh whether playing unsportingly is worth the loss of warpoints.
Basically, no war points would be earned for red line kills, regardless if the killer or the killed are in the redline.
It would discourage red line campers from staying in the red line, and discourage those from trapping the enemy team in the redline. It'll encourage more sporting competition. I like it.

What? war points are useless unless you want to be the person with the highest war point. Needs a bigger penalty...

We've also been discussing in General Discussion forums a possible damage nerf to anyone shooting a target that's capable to receive damage that's within the redline, as well as a player or installation getting damage nerfed while shooting from within the redline.
I don't know why this didn't occur to me earlier, but... what about a war point DEDUCTION for kills within the redline? If you kill from or are killing people within the redline, the appropriate amount of WP would be deducted instead of added to your score. WPs are not pointless, by the way. They play a large part in ISK rewards and bonus SP. Especially for players good enough to rack up 1000+ WPs a game. |

I'm a sniper, though I don't shoot from behind the the redline. That said, war points are useless to me. I don't run with squads, and getting enough for an orbital on my own would require 40 kills. So for people who DO shoot from the redline, giving or taking them wouldn't really do much. |
