Hi there, it's Tallen, your friendly neighborhood Gallente Logi.
I enjoyed running with my dragonfly assault suits so much that I decided to make my next suit the Caldari Assault. After about 1 million SP to take it to advanced I noticed something. Compared to my Gallente Logi it's a POS. I know the Caldari are all for creating cheap disposable crap but come one, their troops too? You can't even effectively shield tank it in this current environment. I was warned but I guess I had to see for myself, and the biggest problem had to be the low PG/CPU. I have electronics and engineering both up to level 5, so it turns my already high CPU/PG Logi into beast mode..... while the assault is still lack luster.
I hear this is the problem all Assault suits have against the Logi, which I would agree with, but my dragonfly at level 3 is still a beast (for standard with militia BPO gear). What are you to do about this CCP? Half your medium suits are a joke.

I'm confused. You seem to be calling the Caldari Assault crap and then you call it a beast. I understand that to the younglings that beast is a good thing. What am I reading wrong?

True. Assaults are justa better assault without sidearm(+equipment slots,more slots,more CPU-PG,Useful bonuses very slight disadvantages like stamina or speed that can be compensated ty to massive slots). PERIOD. anyone denying this is a fool.
BUT.
I would prefer a scout/commando/sentinel buff before an assault one.Med frames already have their champion AND all the variety....

The Proto Cal Assault isn't crap. It just can't take as much direct damage as a Gal-logi.
Gal-logi has a much larger eHP pool, but is also slow.
Cal-Assault has a lower eHP pool, but has some outright IMPRESSIVE regen capabilities.
Put it this way. How fast can each suit recover from 420 points of damage?
Cal will be first. A good build will have around 502 shields and around 46 hp/s shield recharge. By running dual regulators in your lows, you can have your shields regen at 2.75 seconds. That's insanely fast. Depleted drops down to around 4.5 seconds as well.
So, you take 420 damage. You are down to 82 shields. After 2.75 seconds, you begin shield regen. After 9 seconds, you have full health. Total time to regen is around 12 seconds.
Now for the gal logi. This build has 185 shields and 819 armor. He takes 420 damage, which depletes his shields, and leaves him with 584 armor. He has to regen 235 armor and 185 shields. His armor regens immediately, so it will take 21 seconds at his 11.25 rep rate. His shields are another story. They have a 10.6 second delay and only 15 rep a second. So it will take him 12.3 seconds to rep his shields and another 10.6 till they start. Thats around 23 seconds. Total regen time is 23 seconds.
The Cal assault regens eHP at almost twice the rate of a Gal-Logi. Now, a Gal-logi can cheat and run some Rep hives, but those force him to stay in a specific area, and are easily killed by flux grenades (which also kill his buffer). If a good shield tank fights at a range, they can avoid fluxes and stick to cover to quickly regen shields.

Now, i think we can all agree on the worst assault- Mk.0's.
Recharge of 22.5 at proto, 2 lows and 5 highs, at best i can get 30 more shield, but the extreme CPU cost of shields forced me to run an adv CR.

It's just cause you went from Logi to Assault. A Logi can do anything a assault can do but better, minus a sidearm(except a Amarr Logi of course)
