Limit the amount of modules that we can fit to one of each type!
This way, we are forced to skill into more than just shields, armor, and damage modifiers.
Best idea ever, right?

Because it works.
There's no point in breaking something that's proven effective simply for diversity.

Limiting the fitting possibilities in a game which is advertised for how much possibilities you have with your fittings. Actually your idea is the worst idea ever. |

Limiting people to only one module for the sake of diversity would kill the game.

Disagree.
This idea is pretty lol tbh.
So you have 5 highslots? Well... You can put in that shield extender of course, that energizer uh, that regenerator, though that's a bit redundant... Um, you can also have this myofibril stimulant? ... What else? Eh. Oh! A precision enhancer, that frequently will do nothing for you at all!

Limiting the fitting possibilities in a game which is advertised for how much possibilities you have with your fittings. Actually your idea is the worst idea ever. Players are already limiting themselves by stackiing damage modifiers, armor plates, and shield extenders. They choose to fit what is best to stay competitive, and I will agree with an above poster that it works.
However, because most players limit themselves to these modules, the game has become nothing more than a case of who has the most eHP and who can kill the fastest.
Why is it that perfectly viable modules go relatively untouched i.e. precision enhancers, code breakers, etc.? This game advocates diversity, but diversity is almost nonexistent. |

That's their choice. Just because everyone else is limiting themselves it doesn't mean it has to be an enforced standard.
In Eve Online, the vast majority of the ships have a large number of slots. The battlecruiser-sized ship known as the Gnosis has up to about 8 high slots for turrets. With your logic, the Gnosis will be forced to arm itself with one laser turret, one missile bay, one autocannon, one railgun, one artillery cannon, one mining laser, one salvage module, and a tractor beam. Now tell me, does this appear to be the most efficient ship setup so far? No, right? I thought so.

Overall, the point here is that your idea is never going to be implemented because it goes against the very nature and core of the game itself. To allow players freedom to fit their suits and vehicles however they like.

Agreed. We need to have a bit of flexibility for fitting, as the needs of a frontline fighter and a sniper are much different.
A sniper benefits from stacked damage mods, though the stacking penalty for the 3rd one is rather steep, than it does from a shield extender. Taking away the option for people to decide for themselves will hurt the game.
Try to kill it all you want CCP, I still <3 my laser.

also it would break a lot of the built in counters available by stacking mods and ruin any attempt of a tank except a hybrid tank which on anything but a scout is an abomination.

The stacking penalty works just fine. No need to put a cap on anything. If someone wants to sacrifice 150+ shield for an extra couple percent damage then that's up to them. |
