And in that time, my PS3 has not crashed once.
COINCIDENCE?! I think not!
DUST is so broken, even my PS3 refuses to let me play it.

My ps3 hasn't crashed for months and I play dust regularly. Perhaps it is an issue with your system getting too hot? |

My system crashed a couple of times back in the E3 build, but that's it. Maybe you should get all the dust out of the fans and put your PS3 in a more open space?

It shuts itself off.
But I dont think its overheat, I think its a problem with DUST. The thing was on practically the whole day yesterday, downloading stuff from PSN, and playing too.
So if it was an overheat problem, I would've got it yesterday too.
DUST is so broken, even my PS3 refuses to let me play it.

Nah i have a full time air conditioner shooting at it... when playing DUST.. it is more the activities you do in DUST..
If all you run is normal pub's and take your time then you wouldnt have an issue.
If you are running any competitive FW and PC, system freezes and fatal errors insue. Everyone playing the PC game has to reset per PC.
So say you are running 10 PC's in a weekend day, 1-3 minutes for full restart to back in game x 10... some people are spending 30 minutes everyday just restarting their playstations to play DUST. and that excludes the FW stuffs.
Its a big issue for peoples drive to even play DUST after they get past a couple months of play with it.. and the point of even continuing to play it. |

I've pretty much done everything I can do, and it still shuts off when playing DUST.
But all my other games run fine.
DUST is so broken, even my PS3 refuses to let me play it.

So it's strictly a problem with DUST which only your PS3 encounters, with regularlity, despite DUST working on other PS3s?
That doesn't sound like how troubleshooting works.

My PS3 crashed while playing other games too. Regarding the amount of time I put into playing Dust I don't think it crashes abnormally often. |

I'm not the only one having this problem, others have had it, and they had to buy Slims just to be able to play one game (Which I, am definitely NOT doing)
Plus, its been 'Under investigation', for 7 months.

If the experience is unique to you, it's less likely to be an error with the software that many others are using. Just because the error doesn't impact your playing other games, doesn't mean it's not on your end.
Is your DUST install corrupt? If reinstalling doesn't fix it, can you guarantee that the reinstall completely removed any trace of the game that may cause error? How's your internet connection? Did you actually measure the temperature while downloading compared to the temperature while playing DUST?

Have they said they can reproduce it internally? If not, it being under investigation adds no validity to the claim that it's DUST.
I've got no interest in protecting CCP from claims that their stuff breaks playstations, but the poor troubleshooting in this approach is unlikely to lead to your resolving the issue.

Yup also experiencing this and its not something I can reproduce, I have cleaned my PS3 and it does not occur with any other game, also the PS3 is not overheating so I'm almost certain its not a dust issue but a DUST514 issue, also this only started to happen for me after 1.7 was released, my next attempt at a fix is a full re-install of the entire system, however with no problems with other games I'm loathed to do this,
My issue is the system just powers off, then has a blinking red light, i click it once and it beeps, then goes solid red, press the power button again and the system powers up with a green light, goes to a System recovery screen and does some scan to determine if the power down has caused any issue,
is the above what you are experiencing ??
I used to pilot HAV's then I took a forge gun to the knee, but now forge guns do nothing to HAV's........

So if it was an overheat problem, I would've got it yesterday too. Downloading doesn't cause much heat build up in a ps3. Is it dust free and well ventilated? Has it Ylod'd previously? My ps3 fat had many hard shutdowns for months after it's Ylod experience, not just with dust but Diablo 3, bl2 and skyrim.
Is it well ventilated? Do the rear exhaust vents send hit air out of the ps3 area? Do you have something under it to create extra space between the floor and the intake vents?
If you are positive it is not heat related, try uninstalling dust, run a defrag, install dust and run a defrag again. |

Blinking red light most commonly denotes an overheated system, but have a look at the link below for a couple of other possible causes.

I have cleaned out my PS3 like you have, on top of that I've;
Replaced the Power Cord Moved it further away from the radiator in the room Defragged my PS3 Rebuilt the PS3 database Reinstalled DUST Deleted DUST save files Put the PS3 on top of blocks, to allow air to get under I've resetted each hour of DUST playtime
None of it has worked so far, though.
I've just stopped playing DUST.
DUST is so broken, even my PS3 refuses to let me play it.
