I've been offline for two months and have come back to test our favorite game once again. As promised I have gutted my quota of HAVs and am really rusty or I'd have gotten the rest of you pissant tankers as well.
But on a more serious note: No I am not here to antagonize tank drivers... much.
Issues of note:
Lag. Dear Christ Lag. Forge gun fires, shot doesn't leave barrel until a half second to a second later.
The KBM is pretty much worthless now. I thought it was impossible for them to get any more cornholed but I WAS WRONG!!! if anyone knows how to make the KBM interface not a pile of sh*t, please let me know. As it stands they're functionally useless as-is.
Tanks are harder to kill... to the point where killing a piece of crap militia fit is inordinately difficult for what you use. There needs to be some parity between AV and V. Right now there is none, and my tank kills were dumbass schleps who think that a tank makes them a magical godmode girl from an anime or something. As soon as I started killing the somas and sicas the rest of the tank spammers started recalling their vehicles because I actually knew what I was doing... and I had backup. I should not need to break out the prototype forge gun to knock a significant dent in a militia tank. This is stupid. I should need a prototype forge gun to put a dent in a proto fit madrugar, gunnlogi or marauder. Bring the AV up to parity. And by AV I mean heavy weapons for killing heavy vehicles. Swarms can be installation and LAV gankers forever as far as I care.
framerate: DUST needs a better platform to run on. PS3 is starting to bleed from it's pores when the shooting starts.
Rewards: they still suck. Until rewards are scaled up to where players can sustain continuous use of at least advanced gear, they will never stop with the BPO/militia gear cheapshit crutch. It will never go away. It's that simple. The rewards are lacking to the point of a joke. Sp rewards are still utter crap per match since CCP seems to think only tryhards who can afford to spend 10 hours a week playing are the majority of their playerbase. The customization is SLOOOOOOW to the point of molasses-like. My EVE pilot racks up skills faster than this ****.
Now the Good things:
Tanks are harder to kill... I can actually live with having to put more than one round through a militia tank to put it out of my misery. I just think it should take less than FIVE shots with proto tank killing weapons. That should be the purview of well-fitted tanks of the standard on up variety.
Heavies are scary in CQC: Hello children, did you miss me in those cramped spaces with my HMG and utter lack of giving a crap if I die? I knew you did.
Rail Rifle and Combat Rifle: I couldn't really put them through their paces because my mouse controls acted like my character was trying to maneuver in full-body shackles. but they seem ok ish.
Did I mention tanks don't explode when a stiff breeze hits them? This is a good thing! Don't nerf them, buff the AV and tweak it so they even out dammit!
In closing, if you don't fix anything else, please fix the rewards, CCP. It's more fun to play a game that rewards you and allows you to feel like you can accomplish things. Right now utilizing anything above standard feels like signing your ass away into an indentured servitude contract, only without the light at the end of the tunnel. It feels more like a job than a game, and bluntly this is the game-killer here. I've had more people quit, or not want to bother because... they don't have fun losing more than they gain, or getting the same crapsack payment for winning at the top of the tier as they would losing and merrily jerking off in a corner instead of fighting.
Protostomping dies when people can afford to deploy better gear, through SP customization and through monetary/LP gain.
And for the love of...
New heavy suits. New heavy weapons. New scout suits. amarr vehicles. minmatar vehicles. We need them. badly. |

+1. Especially to the bit about the snails pace progression.
Seriously, it takes several matches to level up even the most basic skill to level 1 - it takes hundreds for the longer skills. And even as if that wasn't enough, you get capped in case you actually do grind it all out.

that's a big reason why people don't want to keep playing. equality with protostompers seems too far out of reach. |

i think the slow progression is a good thing if we got everything too quick wed get bored and it helps sell boosters
i wouldn't mind cap removal, i never cap but thats cuz i play hour a day tops in a std fit very casualy
on tanks i think theres always gonna be imbalance here due to the fact people always target tanks like their a high threat regardless of it being proto or mlt id give av a 7% buff with dmg and take it from their

I'd revert the AV nerfs and then tweak from there

Looks like it would be nice to have you in the mix . This forum needs people who can stand up and get to the point in speech and help CCP to understand that everyone is not caught up in their suppose to be spell . Yes there are a lot of good things about this game but to not follow threw on the potential and promise is a crime to those who could have done something else with their time instead of waiting for CCP to make good in finishing the game with all of the work that needs be .

let's make no mistake, I am a troll and an a**hole.
However I do like the game and my critiques there are because I want to see this game succeed and get better.
Right now we're in growing pains. We need more of a draw to keep new players. If Dust can attract new players then they will natively start wanting to know if EVE is for them as well. It becomes a draw that EVE brings more players to DUST and DUST brings more players to EVE.
EVE has many, many niches to be filled to find your particular brand of "fun."
in DUST there is only one niche: that of an infantryman/vehicle driver. If CCP cannot make the experience FUN the game may survive but it will never thrive and achieve the objective stated above. |
