Imagine, a grenade you use for getaways and or weaken enemy infantry. The grenade would be called a Anti-matter grenade. you throw it and it creates a black hole-like energy field that last for a certain amount of time that engulfs nearby projectiles (bullets and grenades, not swarms and forge gun blasts) that will make your retreat from a hard target a little better. Being a anti-matter device, it would also assist on directly eating away slowly at dropsuit armor if they are in the blast radius. The damage would not be anything close to locus grenade damage.
Standard- 3.5 blast radius 1.5 sec duration 15 armor damage per sec
Advanced- 3.9 blast radius 2.5 sec duration 25 armor damage per sec
Prototype- 4.6 blast radius 3.5 sec duration 35 armor damage per sec
I put thought into this one |

Antimatter doesn't make a black hole like thing... It annihilates with matter, and releases massive amounts of gamma radiation.

Lol an antimatter grenade would be the most powerful grenade in this game. When antimatter and matter collide the obliterate themselves into nothing, if I had the equivalent of 1lb of anti-matter collide with 1lb of matter they would both literally cancel each other out and a release a huge amount of energy, this energy is equivalent to the total mass being canceled or 8.08879661 +ù 10^16 J, for comparison purposes 1 pound of TNT releases 2,420,000 J. So yeah it wouldn't create a black hole it would just obliterate everything on the map. A hand held orbital :) |

Then we need to implement it as soon as possible so we can get the Gallente Hulk. I mean Heavy.

Would make for a good Gallente device, as they already use antimatter in their starship blasters. The detonation effect might look like a black hole, but is simply a sphere of AM.
lore/science thoughts Considering the power of antimatter annihilation, the AM inside the sphere would be as diffuse as solar wind particles in space - any higher density would create a nuclear-grade blast upon being struck with a matter projectile. This would work because you don't have to destroy the projectile, just defeat its kinetic energy to neutralize it. Needless to say, radiation-based weaponry would be unaffected by this device.
gameplay thoughts This would make a great deployable-cover weapon for the Gallente, and could easily be made within the Federation by modifying existing Antimatter blaster ammunition. Instead of creating a hard wall like instant-hardening foam or plasma shielding, this would instead damage infantry trying to go through it.
Amarrian laser weaponry would punch right through, but the containment shield/field would mitigate a certain amount of damage as it goes through, applying that lost damage to its own HP to protect the user. (Lasers lose some damage potential but go through)
It is most effective at defeating Kinetic munitions - hence, it is almost purpose-built for blocking Caldari weapons. May use Fallout: NV-style thresholds for damage calculation, as particularly powerful rounds may not be completely stopped. (Blocks most Kinetic, mitigation for those strong enough to penetrate)
A shockwave would disrupt the containment enough for some annihilation to take place, turning the AM field into a form of reactive armor. Thus, Matari weapons' exposions would not affect a user behind the AM field. (stops explosive damage)
Gallentean blaster ammunition is almost identical in design, so a blaster could theoretically be set to the same harmonics to be able to pass through without either one affecting the other. Blasters on different frequencies would still go through, but the strength of the munition would be significantly compromised. (Allied blasters unaffected) (Strong mitigation on enemy blasters) |

Looks like I didn't actually put enough thought into this as I should have. Well, at this point, I would like someone to take my original post and tweak it a bit so it makes sense. |
