I'm not one for copying CoD, but nova knives in their current state are pretty difficult to do anything with. So, why not copy the ballistic knife from black ops 1 and make the blade a projectile?
It would have a relatively low range (say 10-15m?) and be slightly less damaging than a charged melee strike. It wouldn't be anything awesome, but it would make the NKs more viable IMO.

Not feeling it. Can't comment on anything below proto, but you can tear through a squad before they turn around using Nova Knives if you get the drop on them.

A ballistics knives sounds fun, but it can't be something like CoD. I was thinking along the lines of a hybrid. Slash someone with it then throw it at someone else nearby. Then recover it from their bodies. But the knives are connected to your suit's CPU and PG in order to function, so I'm not sure how we can make that work.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

I could work with the ranged attack being some sort of lunge. So often I sprint behind someone for a good ten seconds before a slash makes contact.

Yes to flying knives!! It should take a great deal of skill. And no 1hk stuff unless to the head. You can severely damage a clone and then finish him off with a diff. weapon. Yes to ballistic knifes. |

How about removing the CPU/Structure costs of all knives?
They would be the to-go weapon for fittings that simply don't have enough room for any dedicated weaponry. |

yeah Nova knives would be a lot easier to wield with a little lunge distance, you could even tie the lunge distance into how much the knives are charged like half charge could be 2 meters and full charge could be 4.
that doesnt have to be the actual numbers it just sounded like a good place to start |
