Whatever team that hacks the NULL first almost always wins because they put spawn points all around the NULL and hunker down. Halfway through the game, one of the teams has basically barricaded the space from the NULL to the opposing MCC and the whole team starts to get picked off before they can get close enough for a hack. Sometimes it is possible for the NULL holders to be overrun but it barely ever happens. Anyone else have an opinion on domination.

Not really, I find it's more the lack of (metaphorical) test1cles on players rather then the game mode itself if both teams fight to the fullest you can get some rather exciting matches.

I generally view dom as "whoever has the faster squad wins". If you can fly in, hack, and drop several uplinks within about 2min you've already won. After the enemy mcc has lost shields you don't even have to defend anymore, after that you can just treat it like ambush.
So yea it's pretty boring.

^This. I used to think what you thought OP, and then I jumped in with some really good squads who called in their own DS to drop us in and turn the tide. It's about teamwork. When a majority is sending waves of just 3 at a time trying to flank at all the angles at different times or trying to kill them from far away to have them spawn before you can reach the objective, you're asking for a hard short game. Where as great squads rally their team and when blues see a group of greens pushing the line, they rush in to help.

Domination seems to make for better fights.
Plus when I'm on a team of noobs, I just spam Uplinks, get more WP, and then more ISK at the end :D

I love domination. You actually get a fight instead of the rollover effect in Ambush. You need a strong squad to turn around the situation you're talking about, but it definitely can be done. The best matches are when two solid squads meet and OB's rain down from both sides while the objective goes back and forth.

If feel like it's the team that have there mcc/ground spawn closest to the objective that usually win. Seriously, on some maps the distance difference is ridiculous.

I agree. I will be out front laying uplinks. It is a back and forth I kill they kill me. When I see more of them and less of my team I know they have given up and ran away. When the heat is on, most turn tail. I only walk away when I spawn in and see half the team in the red line, 2-3 are on towers, and a few are in LAV's, that really only leaves me and a few others to hold the objective. I give up trying to win and play hit and run and try and get as many kills and WP's as possible.

So, the issue I have seen recently is people bringing in 2 or 3 tanks and beating the faster team within a minute after they get the NULL.
outside of that, I actually flux drop uplinks all of the time. I literally spent time scanning and taking out uplinks if I didn't get there first. Even on a bad team we get the NULL. Sometimes it can get really ugly because some people are trying to build ISK so they know that the main team is going to just sit by the NULL. They camp and kill those guys in a sniper fit.
So, again, just go after uplinks and hives and you'll find that even a bad team will do well. Plus with FLUX grenades you can take out a lot of peeps shields and any militia grenades a team members throws up there can finish them off.
There is one map that sucks for sure and that is the one where it is a container that holds the hack station/null. I've seen people just park tanks outside of it once they get it or even take a UAV and park it inside of it so no one can get in. That requires a bit more teamwork. |

Dom is like the other game modes, whoever has the stacked team usually wins.

Whenever I play Domination games alone, I assign myself specific tasks: remove as many enemy uplinks, plant as many friendly ones, cause a big ruckus, etc.
Usually though I avoid Domination because it can so easily devolve into a boring 'battle'. |

Some of my favourite and most intense matches in Dust have been to-and-fro Domination battles where fairly well organised squads can help to dislodge a well entrenched team with a well placed/timed orbital, a flanking manoeuvre, sheer pressure or a combination of all of these. If the enemy team then replies in kind then it can result in a fantastically intense (and expensive) match.
It's not a perfect mode by any means, but I personally prefer it to the other modes as in my experience there is less chance of a completely one-sided match than ambush (or even Skirmish).

If the team that captures bunkers down, the key is to kill them faster rather than push for a breach and take out their clones. The answer to the tons of uplinks is tons of nanohives outside and grenade spam and mass driver the crap out of the objective. |
