Then wouldn't you want a (insert faction here) banner to show it?
Or even a special title to show your dedication to the (insert faction here) cause?
How about (insert faction here) actually has a leader board to show off how much you dedicate to them?
Or even a (insert faction here) based weapon that is renamed YOUR name for all your toil and effort!
That's right YOUR very own officer weapon!!!

I don't think he actually meant an Officer Weapon as people know them, but rather your Kaalakiota, Charge, or Ishukone would be your personalized Officer Weapon.
As far as what is suggested... How about adding officer symbols to your suit, so people would see that you are a Sargent, Lieutenant, Captain, Major or Colonel by the strips on your uniform. You only get these symbols by the level you reached for the faction.

I still like the idea about having strips showing your level.
I know that for some they have leveled up in more than one area, so with all the additional space on the dropsuits, they could have a place where you decide which one you want ( IE Gallente, Minmatar, etc) This way you could have different dropsuits showing the rank for the different factions you fight and have leveled up.
