I'm not sure if this is because I'm playing Dust too much, or I love the game for it's ingenuity, whereas most people can't tolerate the issues with this game like a granny who can't tolerate things not going her way. But, I had an interesting dream, fighting in Dust in first person, and in Hardmode.
Here it goes:
First of all, you're dropped into a match with nothing but your preferred dropsuit, and module layout. You have absolutely no weapons or equipment, you must find them on the battlefeild. In addition to the stuff you can find to use, there are installations, and mecha suits you can hop into to give yourself a small edge over enemies, although the mecha suits, and installations are easily destroyed by enemies, it all depends on your own skill to keep it running.
As you run through the battlefeild, you find boxes, and crates laying around with different items in them, such as Nova Knives, Combat Rifles, Assault Rifles, Swarm Launchers, etc. etc. Of course, the bigger weapons wouldn't be in boxes, or crates, they would be lying outside of them as they would be too big to fit in them. The fun part, is finding what you do find, and using it the best you can to survive against other enemies.
Yet, another bonus to this, around the objectives to be hacked, you must infiltrate the defended fortresses, that have turrets, and blasters planted around them, and siding with whichever team has hacked the objective(they can be destroyed, yes. But it's more beneficial to attempt to keep them in order to weigh the odds against your enemy.). And, the mecha suits, as previously mentioned, are highly effective in destroying these defenses.
Yet, another factor, that is very beneficial, yet also a very sharp double edged sword, would be the rare suitcase-like boxes that you can find next to weapon/ammo crates. They have two panels on the top of them, that open up like bay doors to release...well, air. At least...it looks like air. But here's the kicker, without a gas mask(and warning other teamates of the area that it has been released), the virus released from these suitcases would infect clones, and force them to go into a blind fit of rage and attack friendlies. Although, you won't be attacking your enemies, both sides are affected by this virus, no matter which side opens the box...unless you have a gas mask, or...anti-viral mask, whatever you may call it.
Here is how the dream went(keep in mind, first person action): I spawned into a bunker, that was dark, and musty. Albeit lit with a wonderfully green hue of lights along the walls. I, in my Minmatar Assault Dropsuit, ran around with my bare hands through the halls, looking for something of use. In searching for a weapon, I spotted a small case of weapons in the corner next to a row of barred cells. It somewhat looked like a cardboard cup holder you would get when you order two, or more drinks from McDonalds. I picked up the case, and looked inside, to find a de-scaling knife for fish(perfect for slicing throats with the hooked tip) in the bottom left corner of this "cup-holder." Thumbing the edge of the blade, I slip it into my belt, and take a look at the other three holders, noticing the upper-right was empty. But the bottom left had a regular survival knife, something to slip in quickly, and slip out quickly as well for an immediate kill. Of course, I slid this into my belt as well(I would imagine this weapons would be basic items to have on the battlefeild, therefore...not Nova Knives, I could only wish they were.). In the upper-left of this dusty, cup-holder, there was a single Locus Grenade. Of course, I would take that as well, because it would be of great use if I got in a pinch. Just about as I was going to move out, the light of the green wall light hd managed to shimmer some steel edging on a box in the darkness where I had picked up the weapons holder, thing-a-ma-jig, and walked over to it. As one would guess, it was a suitcase, and withthe button placed on the side of this box, curiosity was getting the best of me to push the devious button. With hesitation, I inched my index over to the black button, and pressed it. Two panels had flipped open up top of the suitcase, and a sudden hiss of air was released from it. A notification in the upper right of my visor had appeared for the entire team, "Exodeon Salviej has released the virus in a specific area! Equip gas masks!" And in an instant of the notification, my re-breathers on my suit had locked up, and switched over to a sealed compartment for air within my suit. At first, it was a bit suffocating, but I instantly got used to the situation, and moved downward to the end of the hall. The end of the hall opened up to a sort of reservoir for sewer water, with bay doors, or rather...garage doors to lead outside. On the opposite wall, lit up by the dim, green light, as if always hinting to "look here, there, and everywhere," was a full on mecha suit. Now keep in mind, shortly after I had seen this mecha suit, gunshots, and explosions were going on outside of the garage doors, but faint, as the doors were thick of steel, and blast proof. With what little I had on me, I had no other choice than to hop into the seat of the beast, and activate it. Upon activating, the hydraulics jumped slightly, testing themselves for combat, and the blast doors slowly opened, and loudly too with alarms blaring both in, and out of the bunker. With loud stomps of the steel feet moving upon concrete, I stepped the monstrosity out through the blast doors, and the gunfire, and explosions had lowered in frequency, but not stopped. One of the enemy team members yelled out, "Mecha, incoming from the bunker!" Of course, the mecha I was using seemed to be of Gallente origin because the main gun on it was an Assault Rifle, and my visor showed it was armor based. Stepping out into the hot zone, I aimed down the sights of the assault rifles through the visor uplinking glass that protected the...
Your face is something to shoot, so I will shoot. Don't be offended, I do it to everyone.
