I spent many years playing a game that had it's share of exploits that would never be fixed. Fortunately the community was small enough that we were able to police ourselves into never using them. This attitude shaped my current opinion on how to handle things I come across, but I'm not sure it is the proper way and what to get a pulse and discussion from you guys.
So my philosophy is to identify, widely inform, and shun usage of anything that falls in the realm of exploit. If I find or find out about a glitch, rather than use it to my advantage, or even try to keep it secret, I go as far as to put it up on Youtube and report is as soon as possible. But the shunning and refusal to use may be counter productive.
If you take the current equipment spam issue as an example, 20 to 30 uplinks surrounding a supply depot is clearly unintended use, and equipment spam in general I and many others believe is clearly causing framerate issues. My natural course of action is to shun and report. But is this the best way to encourage CCP to take action? Lets take the approach of going full opposite. What if I were to encourage everyone I know to do this:
Spawn public or FW match, race to supply depot, deploy max equipment given my proto minlogi, and level 5 on all equipment, swap to free suit, suicide, afk in MCC until my WP stops, rinse an repeat game after game after game, and encourage others to do this until the equipment spam brings Tranquility to it's knees. Would the problem be addressed faster?
This has been a problem in PC for months and though it's been talked about, and even acknowledged by CCP, still nothing is done. What if all Pubs became unplayable. Would they take action then? Would CCP prefer we do this? I know this from my professional life in IT, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
The problem I see with this is that there will always be an exploitable mechanic and even if CCP wanted to, I don't think it's theoretically possible for them to keep up, which could lead to the game remaining unplayable ALL the time if everyone lost their honor.
What do you guys think, which philosophy is better for the good of the game?
