Sigh, I am a Vehicle Player, I move fast, I get a lot of QQ, a Stasis Grenade would allow for AV to prevent us from running away the moment our cooldowns kick in, allowing Infantry to use the windows of opportunity design CCP have gone with for Vehicles to their own advantage.
Flix Keptick wrote:Idea: yes Homing: no Percentage: 50% for the first one if they can stack
Why no on Homing, would be like an AV Grenade, I think it'd be quite fair, also stack is max 3, so you'd be moving at 20% for 15 seconds, requiring AV time it correctly or work in a team.

I'm going to keep bumping this, because there is so much bitching about tanks, about how they zip away and yet when a viable option other than buffing ALL the AV things, it gets ignored by the majority of whiners. Quit yer whinin' kiddies.

After playing Eve, a Stasis Webifier from a grenade seems weird. I think vehicles should be able to move out of range of any Stasis Webs, and it feels kind of cheap to tie it to a grenade and say if you get webbed you are effected for so and so many seconds no matter what. I say tie it to equipment.
Also not a fan what so ever of Stasis Webs effecting infantry.

Yeah I'm all for it. Should be in grenade form and should be a single shot like contact grenades.

By Assaults you mean Assault Forge? If so, that means you're be soloing him out in the open due to the fact you'd have to get close with the grenades and he'd still be moving at 20% speed, while slow it's not that bad. and would have no extra ammo, he'd be able to shoot you and move still, and since you've got no extra ammo he just has to time his hardeners after you throw the first grenade to guarantee it's still activated after the debuff runs out.
That said, you're going to say no to everything rather than post a response with what you'd tweak with the above idea, it's why I made the post, I would also like feedback.

Don't think of it as a webifier, I say stasis but I'm not looking at freezing it in place or anything, so it's not an actual stasis weapon, I guess you could name it whatever, but something that lowers the power going to wheels/tracked vehicles. I'm suggesting this as an easier fix for CCP to do rather than design something new from the ground up, they just need to make a display effect for it, perhaps a white flash going constantly on the vehicle alongside the blue for shields and yellow for armor. Use the model of a grenade, ta-da, you have something to prevent vehicles from rushing around and dominating, and allow even newbs to be useful by having these grenades and tossing them at a vehicle to keep them pinned.
It would be useful for all players to carry, even when not hunting vehicles, ever been in a situation where there's a tank blocking you from somewhere? You just need a few seconds to get across, so you bait the tank, he comes over and you run past, if only you'd of slowed him down so he couldn't chase you up the hill Q_Q

If we could get these as a stopgap for the mythical webifier mines that have never appeared, I'd be happy with that. I'd still prefer the mines but this is a solid idea. |

I think equipment (or even a light weapon as some have suggested) is the way to go. Put a max range of like 40 meters (just throwing a number out there for the sake of the conversation). In a grenade form, you would never see a tank un-webbed, web grenade spam would be never ending. And I really feel just pressing R2 once and automatically creating a status affliction that cannot be removed until the effects wear off is boring. The Web Nades would either be OP, or pretty much useless, just like the lifespan of the swarms.

I disagree, coming from a tank perspective you're very rarely hit by grenades, and if you do you're either bad at the game or getting cocky, of course there are always ninja AVers that sneak up behind you and use them too. I would like to see everyone using these grenades, tanks are strong but if there is fear that if they rush into an infantry squad and have a massive risk of being slowed and dying, then you'll see more tanks sticking to open fields, staying away rather than risking themselves.
Of course, an equipment item would be even better, I mean we've discussed mines, we can get something like a rep tool that can be continuously fired and slows them, no ammo, no duration, just constant until you die or have to run, something like that. But this grenade could be a simple fix till we get that, and should be tweaked to promote the use of other items over this.
So a pro to this would be the ease of use, and the fact its a grenade, the cons being its duration isn't that long and requires more than just yourself to successfully take out a tank with them unless you're a good player. A good AVer could time his grenades just as the tanks hardeners drop, chuck the grenades and then forge it, a bad one wouldn't time it, would chuck grenades, the tank would put its hardeners up and then smash him.
Tanks should be soloable, they should require thought and it shouldn't be a near vertical battle, it should be an uphill battle for the AV, but not a cliff.

There should be some counter to these grenades. Like Torq mods could be a kind of protection that reduces their effectiveness by 50% or something. |

I'm no tanker, but I think saying getting hit by a grenade in a tank makes you bad at the game is a ridiculous statement, but a web grenade purely for testing and/or a place holder until there is other stuff would be ok.
My though process is, in Eve, if you get webbed you can either push forward and attempt to destroy whatever is slowing you down, or turn and run to try and escape the webs range/warp out. You have that choice, and I think having realistic choices in any given situation goes a long way in terms of making things feels balanced. Just getting webbed and being stuck with it for 8 or 12 or 20 seconds or whatever and having no way to deal with it (running, eliminating web caster) would not be ideal balance wise, in my opinion.

Ah, but as a Tanker, if you get hit by grenades you should feel bad about it, because you've allowed yourself to get in far too close to the target or you're not paying attention to your surroundings. Pretty sure we all had that opinion before 1.7 as well xD
Well you do have the option of killing the guy chucking the Stasis Grenades, chance are this guy is going to have a nanohive and is going to continue hounding you, so you can remove him by shooting him, same with running away, you can run away. Let's pretend you're fighting in a Gunnlogi against a Forge Gunner with several stasis mines. Now let's tweak the numbers and make it so the stasis grenade reduces speed by 75%
Gunnlogi movement: 19.50m/s Gunnlogi movement with debuff: 4.88m/s Heavy movement: 3.65m/s
You're still going to be able to move faster than the heavy, and if you're moving with a nitrous, you're going to be near twice the heavy's speed. you're able to get out of the range any more grenades, but you're not going to get away from that forge gun nailing you from behind unless you've either got cover OR using teamwork

Yeh I'm looking forward to Webifiers. They are a massive and very useful module in EVE and IGÇÖm very interested to see how they will play out in Dust.
But IGÇÖm not sure they should be grenade based though, maybe some sort of equipment that you have to place down 4 (to make a square) and anything within that trap will be slowed down.
Edit: Just thinking maybe some sort of repair tool type item could work out for it instead?

a fix like that takes months. People are sick of it now. Like today. We need a band aid.
do you know the forge was nerfed again. After 1.7. Why?
if they can drop the damage they can raise it. I'd say buff for a week. If that doesn't fix things try something else.
There was a time we fought good tankers. Now we just fight good tanks.

I also am a Eve player. And when improving Dust, better forget all about eve side. I like how a nade, which shouldn't be powerful like God Lai Dai of 1.6, that creates a special combined arms role for infantryman.

I support this. Making it a grenade introduces risk into the equation, putting a squishy merc in harms way.
Doesnt need to be so drastic of a speed reduction either. 50% would do the trick, with a stacking penalty applying to additional 'nades.
Contact would make aiming a little easier, but reduce the possibility of throwing 2 in the road like temporary 'mines' while you get the third one in the air.... |
