Most people just move on with their lives when they stop liking a game.
I tried FFXIV for about 2 months. Nice MMORPG but it just didn't interest me as much as I hoped it would. So I ended my subscription and played other games. Game just didn't click with me.
I didn't lurk for month's on the game's forums bitching to others about my bad experiences. I didn't post cursing the developers and claiming my leave of absence (which I've seen for the most part are complete BS as most of you are still here).
If you don't like it, leave. I promise you that while no developer 'enjoys' hearing someone doesn't like their game, they're not losing any sleep over you. And players damn sure don't. Most people make games because that's what they enjoy doing. Some people like what they make, some don't. Those that don't, well sh^t. Guess it wasn't for them. But those that like it and enjoy playing it, that's what's it's all really about.
In every video, blog, and interview, CCP sounds like they just made DUST 514 to try to make something new. To realise a vision. But most of all because it sounded like a f^ckin cool idea and they had nothing to stop them from running with it. Clearly they're not in this solely for money. After I hit 20mil SP I saw no need to keep buying boosters. At this point the normal pace is fine. In EVE Online if you work hard enough you can play it without spending a dime.
Everything CCP does flat out screams that they're in this for the fun of it. The sheer amount of easily ignored lore, hidden game ties that no one but someone earnestly looking would see, new stuff that while cool clearly were put there just because they could, shows that EVE and DUST are games made to be enjoyed by those who can enjoy it. Not games that are made just for the success of them before moving on to the next project.
This is just how I see them as a young developer myself (last year of college but w/e I have a decent portfolio >.<)
TL;DR - I don't think this game is going to be what everyone is screaming it should be like. It's going to be it's own thing, just like EVE. It's going to be for people who enjoy what it is, and not for people that don't. So if you waiting for it to be a balanced FPS like what you've played before, or like games you keep trying to compare it to, just go. Most of the people that just enjoy the game don't even read these forums because it's full of toxic whiners who need to do just that.
TL;DR WSTL - Quichurbitchin and gtfo. Gaming selections are huge. I'm sure there's something for you.

Was Still To Long. My Composition II professor coined it for me because though I'm very terse vocally, on paper I can never make a short thought.

If you truely love something, you don't just abandon it.
All of us critics have our own reason to be here, weather it's because we came from EVE, the relationships we've built because of this game, or simply because we were suckered in because of Dust's potential and marketing. So as long as we have the patience to put up with this broken game, we will stay and provide feedback (some better than others).
Dust does not need a bunch of "Yes Men" and apologists.
The PC and SL should fit into the Sidearm slot so it's accessible and practical to carry one.

Now I can understand that. Found this game on the PSN back in January and started cause it was free anyway. I liked the insane amount of lore and the potential proposed. Like I said, even I left for a bit to try a new game. What I don't get is the need to whine so adamantly about a poor experience. Especially on a general forum where what your really doing is poisoning the players who are actually enjoying themselves. I just feel bad for them. We do have a feedback section. You can even just send an email on some concerns if you really wanted to.
But what is going on is what I can't understand. They aren't the actions of a game lover who just wants to see it grow. They're the actions of a bitter child who's upset that they didn't get what they wanted and now the world must hear of their suffering. I honestly think that the game would grow a bit if so many people went through the proper channels instead of doing everything they can to ruin it for others.

Tonight has had touches of common sense and perspective insight into the truth of the community's attitude towards the game.
The easy way for me to make friends here and farm likes is by being negative at least 88 percent of time. Sometimes the community doesn't understand how they hamper their own experience. Hence why I placed your statement in bold. It's so true.
I applaud you and others who are speaking out about this. It needs to be heard.

Thanks for the kind words and insight. I'm really not all that noble. Basically I poured myself a drink after some DUST games and read the forums, as is part of my sunday night ritual, finally got upset enough to abandon my rule of being silent when clearly no one is interested in being logical, and made a post.
I've even found myself questioning my own love of DUST after reading these general forums before. I like to see myself as an intelligent person (Murphy's Law aside). But being in contact with so much hostility even made me just stop playing for a day or two because I honestly felt hopeless for DUST like everyone was saying. I began thinking that if that makes me feel that way, what is it doing to younger players or less... uhm... decisive (that sounds nice right?) players.
This thread will most likely be buried as soon as I go to sleep by for of the same old things. And I could have also worded it a lot more politely though it came out a bit ranty even with all the effort I put it. But I felt I needed to say something at least once.
G'night, and I may or may not join you all here again on the forums. Depends on how much I drink. I type ALOT. So internet talking usually embarrasses me since I know people don't really like a lot of reading. But I'll see those who actually play in game ^^
Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fucking fruit salad.
