Pearson keeps posting about hardener stacking and how it's bad; I'm going to raise him a damage mod stacking.
Seriously; I have a lolrailfit with 3x on a proto; I am about 300 damage from 2shotting bolases. I mean, that's ridiculous damage. Doesn't matter what you're running; you gunna die. If we seriously want to get rid of hardener stacking (and I think we should), multiple damage mods needs to go too. Maybe prevent the stacking of all percentage-based actives? They seem to get ridiculous thanks to the massive bonuses...

It's the same as a 3 complex damage modded thales user. Glass cannons are balanced because you can easily snipe them back for a revenge kill, and they're dead if you flank them anyways.

But it isn't, because I can run two and still be hardened, and my sheer DPS will wreck you.

Your pure or mixed damage mod fit will lose to a pure shield mod stacked fit in a straight up shoot out, all else being equal. It's a simple fact of numbers, but the two modules are balanced well enough against each other that the TTK difference always comes out very, very close.
Because of that, it all comes down to preference. Some folks like tank, some like spank. There's an argument for either in any given situation. (The longer the range or the more base HP, the better the argument for spank.)
Basically, play how you like. Arguing about extenders or damage mods is silly and has been for a very long time.

flawed logic, when you can a gallente suit, or even a cal logi, 3 damage in the highs, plenty of room for complex armor plates. not a glass cannon. |

I'm not saying 'remove them'. I'm saying 'assuming that hardener stacking is removed, which it should be because it totally unbalances AV/V interplay, damage mod stacking should be removed too', for reasons I've explained. Extenders and boosters are fine.
I'm also saying that the inherent nature of my skirmishing Gunnlogi means that two damage mods is incredibly effective, because I can weave around cover quickly enough to avoid anything barring another Gunnlogi, which will be dead thanks to 2x damage mods and the lack of a second hardener to take up the slack.
I nearly destroyed pegasis the other day after he got the drop on me (I had my hardener up at the time, and was at full shields, so no lol2shot); nearly killed him through his stacked hardeners; got him into armour. Had we run into each other in the middle of the map, rather than on the edge of his redline, he'd have died. Probably. (He's still better than me, after all).
