First, I do not think tanks are OP right now. Before 1.7 I actually believed tanks died too easily. Now with 2-3 good AV players a tank will die, it just takes a little more effort and team work. I can accept this because it is a tank.
However, all that effort and teamwork is nullified when another tank is immediately called in to replace the one you just killed.
And the reason militia tanks are being spammed SOOOOO much is because they are too damn cheap.
CCP please consider increasing the cost of militia tanks by 3 or 4 times. A four fold increase in a soma would mean one loss and most players will break even or lose ISK in a pub match. By increasing the cost, most of these scrubs calling in militia tanks all match long will have to really consider using them since 4 losses would cost them more than a million ISK. Even just doubling the cost of militia tanks would discourage most players from calling in a second tank once their first was destroyed.
But please DO NOT nerf militia tanks. They are still the best counter to other tanks and need to maintain their effectiveness so high level tanks don't really take over. High skilled tankers need to be worried about something since AV is not as scary as it used to be, especially since it is so easy to overdrive away from AVers now. |

Nerf large blaster RoF, increase damage. Make large blaster better at AV and worse at anti-infantry. Problem solved. Infantry have nothing to complain about.

I am not complaining about militia tanks performance. Just the fact you get such outrageously good performance for zero SP and very little ISK. Proto suits cost more than a militia tank.
Also, I don't think tanks should be less effective against infantry because again, it is a TANK. A blaster tank should mow down any infantry that steps in front of it.
They just need to cost more so players can't constantly spam them without going very ISK negative per match. |

So then there is no turret that is effective against infantry? If do does that mean we can get rid of infantry AV seeing as we are going for the complete segregation of vehicle and infantry combat?
Here is how I see it: 1) Militia tanks are being spammed onto the field of battle because they cost nothing to get into and are about as effective as a standard vehicle and all we have is standard vehicles. 2) AV weapons are having a hard time with tanks right now and probably want their old damage values back.
Solution: 1) Introduction of advanced, proto, and specialized vehicles. They will be clearly superior to militia vehicles and specialized vehicles will gain bonuses that give significant advantage to operating how it is supposed to be used. Then vehicle drivers who actually skilled into tanks will easily defeat crappy militia pilots with no skills into vehicles. 2) The introduction of EWAR creates the opportunity for 2 coordinated infantry to at least hold off a vehicle, if not destroy it, and 3 such infantry can most certainly destroy it. |

TEXS, I agree your solutions are valid. However, they will take a long time to implement. The tank spamming needs to be addressed ASAP and a price increase can be done very quickly versus adding content.
Players don't think twice about calling in tank after tank because they are so cheap. The low cost of the militia tanks are the current problem. A price adjustment would quickly address that problem. |

You can really try to mitigate tank spamming by having CCP control the price. But that will only be a stop-gap measure until the player-controlled secondary market arrives. Once Industry and the secondary market have been established and players get to dictate the prices, then it won't be long after that before we see tank spam becoming a thing of the past.
At least until some well-organized industrial players figure out how to mass produce them at really cheap costs and sell them at Walmart-level prices. Then we'll start seeing tank spam all over again.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?
